Stained Glass Angel Sympathy Card

This is a sympathy card I sent to a friend in September.

The angel image was stamped with Versamark ink
on water color paper then heat embossed black.
The image was water colored with ink from my ink pads
using an aqua painter.

The front panel of the card was run through an
embossing folder.  I hand cut the window in it.

It is attached to the card base with dimensionals
to raise it up a bit. The painted angel image is
adhered flat to the card front.

The stamp image is from an old
Stained Glass stamp set by Stampin' Up!
and the embossing folder was from Cuttlebug.

Join us at House of Cards for this months challenge,

Thanks for looking :)

Doesn't seem possible that it as been three months today
since my Dad passed away
and a week since I had to let Kitty cross the Rainbow Bridge.
It's been a tough week.........
Thanksgiving will surely be difficult, too.

I always make apple pies from scratch and my Dad enjoyed them.
A few tears may be shed during the pie baking this year,
making them a bit on the salty side ;)

Silly Girls - digi kit

Time for a new kit release by JMC Designs

Below are a few pages I made with the kit
as a part of her creative team.

This page was made for a Digital Scrapbook Day
challenge at SNP, I used a template (altered) found on the
designers blog hop that day, too.

Another template/ challenge page

A 4 x 4 printable card front

This page was created for the speed scrap that Jodi
from JMC Designs hosted.
Here are the instructions she gave :

Step 1 -
Pick at least 1 solidish paper for your background
Step 2 - take shapes (triangles)and use as many as you would like both sizes or just the 2 if you want make them any color you want or clip papers to them
Step 3 - Pick 2 pictures - make them 3X3 in size and mat them or stroke them
Step 4 - Create 2 or more clusters to add around the page
Step 5 - use some type of fastener on your pictures (staples, tape, stitching, etc...)
Step 6 - use at least 3 wordbits or 1 wordart
Step 7 - Title it and shadow and finish up your layout however you would like

And Then There Was One...

Cat that is.

Sadly I had to say goodbye to my 16 1/2 year old Kitty yesterday. It was not a good day for numerous reasons, but the worst being that Kitty had a stroke. I was heartbroken at making that decision at the vet's office to let her go over the Rainbow Bridge.........

It never even crossed my mind, not once the entire day until Mom mentioned it to me today, that yesterday was Friday the 13th. No wonder so many things went wrong yesterday!

Now I am down to one cat, Hyla, the menace. Will I get another ? NO ! Hyla does a fine job of catching all sorts of critters (why I brought her home two years ago in the first place) . I'm hoping that she will get a bit nicer, be more mellow as she gets older.

Digital Scrapbook Day Projects

This past weekend , there were numerous Digital Scrapbook Day events all across the internet. I participated in several challenges at Scraps-N-Pieces.com since that is the site the designer I create layouts for sells on.

There were too many fun challenges, with freebies to be earned along the way as they were completed, and not enough time. I was not able to collect all the free pieces of the HUGE Capture My World collaboration kit the SNP designers put together, but can now buy those that I missed. Yaay!

Here are some of the layouts  I created. I will share a couple more in a few days when the kit I worked with goes live in the SNP store

This was for the "selfie" challenge.
The papers were included in the My Digital Studio
program. This is actually a page I already designed
for a calendar front, but changed it up for the challenge.

This page was created with mini kits and a template
that I collected from the designers blog hop.
I used the template in Photoshop Elements.
They offered goodies on their blogs and
facebook pages, for free, that you could collect.
I was able to collect most of them.

I created this page, featuring a black and white photo,
for the ad inspiration challenge.
This page was created with My Memories Suite V6,
the program I use most often for my digital scrapping.

This fun page was created using a template supplied
for the Instagram (square) photo template challenge.
The kit I used is one I bought several years ago
from another site (I think it was at MyMemories.com?).
It is called Rescue Me.

This page was created for the recipe challenge:
interpret the steps the designer gives you to create a page.
I used the bits n' pieces kits Snap, Snap, Snap by
JMC Designs and My Memories Suite software.

This final page was for the photography challenge,
use an old photo.
The template was the August template challenge
by Sus Designs.

THANKS FOR LOOKING =)

Blue and White Tree Card

I whipped up this simple, pretty card to put in my stash
of Christmas cards for this year.
It was inspired by the new challenge at
CASE-ing Christmas, a lovely CAS card by Donna.

And since it features a tree,
I am entering it into the new challenge at

Below is a closeup to try to show the shimmer:

How I made it:

I stamped the tree image from Lovely As A Tree by Stampin' Up!
with Versamark ink onto Glossy white card stock.

It was heat embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder.

It was cut out with an Oval Nestabilities die.

A Brocade Blue card stock mat was cut with a Scalloped Oval Nestabilities die.

I sponged Bashful Blue ink over the top of the embossed tree image.

The oval die cut tree image was glued to the Brocade Blue mat.
I then attached small rhinestones on each scallop.

Glue shimmery card stock to Brocade Blue card stock for the front.

Adhere a piece of red satin ribbon flat across the front,
tucking the ends underneath for a more finished look

Attach the matted image on top of the card front,
off center, with dimensional pop dots.

Tie a small bow and attach it with hot glue
to the top of the flat ribbon strip.
I use Fray Check along the edges of my cut ribbon
to help keep the ends of the bows from fraying.

Thanks for looking =)

Merry Elves Christmas Card

As if I don't have enough things to be working on as it is,
I decided to make a Christmas card today.

I saw the most recent challenge at
and thought it would be perfect
to ink up a never before used stamp set.

I used one of their old sketches
(not exactly, I goofed it up a bit since
I didn't make a sketch of it to look at)
and the previous theme of Elves.

The image was stamped and water colored.
It is an older one from Stampin' Up!

I used two embossing folders on the background papers
and a scallop edge paper punch for trim.

Faux brads were made from scraps of the metallic silver card stock.

This is a relatively flat card, easy to mail.

Thanks for looking =)

24th Bday Card Jeff Gordon Themed

Silly card I made for my daughters 24th birthday.
She was a Jeff Gordon fan many years ago.

I wanted to make an entire car shaped card,
but decided it would be too much work
(I've made other shaped cards such as a pickup truck
in the past, they took too long to make).
I wasn't sure she'd really appreciate it anyway
since she doesn't care for JG / racing any longer.

This is supposed to resemble a portion of the car.

It fits in a regular invitation A2 size envelope.

I cut strips of colored card stock
as well as blue and red to create the painted stripes of the car.
They are all pieced together flat on a white card base.

The wheel and tire are made with punches and dies.
I trimmed the scallops off of a scalloped edge circle die
to create the tire (I've done this on a lot of projects for guys).

A white Signo gel pen was used to write on the tire -
I forgot all about the tiny Just Rite Stampers I had
that may have worked !

The 24 was cut out with my old Cricut Create.
I didn't like the way the shadow feature lined up,
so I cut the numbers from black card stock
then went back in and painted yellow in the centers.

Thanks for looking =)

Snap, Snap, Snap - digi kit

There is a fun new photography centered digital kit
It is sold in portions, each of which
is on sale for $1.00  through November 7th.

The above page was created with it using
instructions for Speed Scrap #432
found at the SNP forum.

And here are two layouts using parts of the kit to make pages that are not
photography related, one more feminine and one more masculine.

lastly a card front

I added my own text;
embellishments and papers are in the kit.

Here are each of the portions of the kit:

Stamped and Cut Window - House of Cards

The above card is a very special one I made for
one of my Aunts to give to her daughter,
the first of my cousins to turn 50.
My Aunt said she didn't care what I designed,
but wanted me to put a big number 50 on it.
(See the fun card I made and gave to my cousin here)

I used the stamped and cut window technique,
this months featured challenge at

We'd love to see what you create with this technique !
There is an instructional video posted to the challenge page.

Take a peek at all of the other fabulous creations the
design team has come up with, such an inspiring team :

DETAILS ABOUT MY CARD:

The front panel was dry embossed onto Crumb Cake Coredinations card stock
then slightly scuffed with sandpaper. I used an embossing folder from the
Paper Lace II set by Sizzix and hand cut around the edges.
It is a large card, approximately 5" x  7".

The center ovals were cut with Nestabilities dies.

I stamped and then water colored in the images around the
edge of the vanilla oval with a portion of stamp and inks from Stampin' Up!

It is layered on Blushing Bride background.

The 50 was die cut from chipboard, painted pink with acrylic craft paint,
coated with a clear drying liquid glue then covered in
a fine glitter by Martha Stewart crafts.

It is glued on top of the oval die cut.

Happiest Birthday was stamped on a scrap of drafting vellum
then heat embossed and hand cut out into a long banner.
It is glued to the front just underneath the rolled paper roses.

The blush pink rolled paper roses were made
by cutting a spiral into a large circle die cut piece.
I hot glued it to a base of a small circle of card stock.
The top edges are decorated with Stickles diamonds glitter glue.

The small cream flowers were made with a paper punch,
water colored in the centers then smooshed in my palm with
an Empressor stylus to give them some dimension.
Yellow rhinestones finished them off.

All of the flowers are adhered on top of
Mint Melody card stock die cut into leaves and
accented with mint ink.

I added a small piece of twine, looped.

I mounted the top portion onto a piece of corrugated card board
that I cut to fit. I wanted to give it dimension and
have it be more sturdy than just several dimensional
pop dots scattered about the back. It worked well.

I hot glued some old mint colored lace ribbon from my
craft supplies stash between the two layers.
I would used a blush pink instead if I had some
lace in that color.

Thanks for looking =)

If you wish to play along with the Stamped and Cut Window technique at
House of Cards this month, be sure to read the House Rules first and
have your creations submitted by the 30th of November.
