Buffalo Plaid Deer Card

I recently dug out a container of die cut felt pieces I bought years ago.
There were three sizes and two colors of the precut felt deer shapes.
I never really could figure out what I wanted to do with them,
especially since they had the brass eyelet in the centers.
I was determined to do something with them this year....

I came up with this set of 8 cards using the tiniest deer die cut.

The tags came in a set of mason jars my daughter bought,
but didn't want to use. I pierced them myself and added
the little strip of black card stock.

I die cut the word "joy" from red card stock
then carefully glued them onto the tags.

A bit of red grosgrain ribbon tied to the top
of the tag to finish it off.

The paid background is actually gift wrap !
Note that it can be tricky to work with gift wrap
on paper projects, especially if it is lightweight
like this was. The label said it was
"premium, heavy duty gift wrap"
- and I paid a premium price for it -
but it was still quite thin. It wrinkles easily
and can show where adhesive is applied.
There is also a curve to it since it was on roll.
Don't try to remove adhesive with an "eraser",
because the ink will wear off.
Cutting it down to size and keeping it square can be aggravating, too.
It was worth it though to create this set of cards.
In the end, I was able to get 8 cards that I'm happy enough with
and have put back to send out next year.

I'll spend a bit more time trimming down
some more of the gift wrap to use on other cards,
then the rest will be used for what it was intended -
to actually wrap gifts !

I also made ornaments with the largest die cut
felt pieces that I will share later.

Thanks for looking =)

    1. The deer was a precut shape from felt that I bought several years ago. Sorry I can't help you with finding the shape.
