Meant To Be Card

Shimmery card stocks, silver embossing powder
and die cuts plus a neat glittered button
topped with silver organdy ribbon made for a pretty card.

Die cuts, stamp images, embossing folder,
inks and card stocks were all from Stampin' Up!

There is no layering heart die in the set to go behind
that fancy die cut heart. It was trial and error to cut
out my own heart to fit behind it.
Too bad I didn't think to trace it for future reference
before I glued it in place, doh!

Button and organdy ribbon, unknown

comes for whatever I decide to use it for.
Wedding ? Sympathy ?

Thanks for looking, have a great day =)

Edited to Add :
I turned it into a wedding card

still very cold out there today.
In just a couple of days we'll be seeing 60 degree temps.
Spring fever will be hitting. Crazy !

DVD Folder

A quickie DVD folder  I made to send to a cousin
that was recently married. It holds all of the video footage,
photographs and digital scrapbook album we made for them.

The folder is made from an 11" wide
by 7 3/4" tall piece of card stock.

Score and fold in half along the 11"side.

Score in at 2 2/4", fold, trim and glue just the outer edges
along the 11" side to create two pockets.

Use ribbon to keep closed if you'd like.
You can punch holes at each opening to run the ribbon through
or attach with heavy duty double stick tape.

Decorate the cover (and inside) as you wish .

I used paper from a Die Cuts With A View stack,
die cuts I made.  A little embossing and sponging
of ink on the heart die cut for more detail.

Thanks for looking =)

Gown and Tux Shaped Wedding Card

Normally when I've been invited to a wedding, I made a special card to reflect the colors or theme of the wedding. I didn't know what either would be for a wedding I recently attended, but suspected it may be a sort of country theme. The invites were a simple cream card in a kraft envelope. I was going to use that as a starting point for my card and had several ideas. In the end I decided to make this gown and tux card since I have always wanted to make one after seeing the idea several years ago.

The pattern I used was found here, but there are many other versions to be found online.

Since the invite was cream and kraft, I made the gate fold card base kraft with a cream insert to write on. I made my card slightly taller than a regular A2 size to hide a check I was giving the happy couple.

The insert is a very old die cut item that was in my stash.
It came in a grab bag of items long ago. I think it was meant
to be folded in half as a gift card or place card for a table ?
I liked the elegant corners so used it as a base
to stamp a sentiment on (oldie from Stampin' Up!).

After I cut the dress pieces out,
I ran them through an embossing folder.

The trim on the waist of the dress is
some really, really old plastic
crafty stuff I came across at a yard sale
many years ago. It was on a roll like ribbon.
I should have made the waist on the dress a bit
wider than what was on the pattern to fit the plastic trim.

I added teeny, tiny paper punch buttons
and a hand cut collar to the original tux pattern.
A little bit of doodling with a marker, too,
for extra detail.

This was a fun card to make.

Thanks for looking =)

Although the idea is not original, I'm entering my card in the following challenges "just because":

Nautical Wedding Card

A wedding card I made to coordinate with the colors and theme of a cousins wedding.
This is a 5" x 7" card.

Hand made paper flowers made from scalloped circle punches that I cut into spirals.

Heat embossed anchor image on silver card stock, hand cut and embellished with thin twine.

Thin twine loops and rhinestones to finish it off.

Computer generated sentiment and hand cut banner layered over ribbon.

Ship image was colored with Prismacolor pencils.

It is adhered to a piece of chipboard cut to fit so it will pop the entire panel off of the ship image.

Wood grain paper was made by rubbing inks across card stock that I stamped with a wood grain image background stamp. I also added stamped speckles.

The inside is a sentiment that I created and printed from my computer.

There is a real knot made of the same thin twine that I used on the front glued inside, too !

I'll be back in a week with a really cool project and tutorial for my Love To Craft design team duties as well as a fun card for my House of Cards design team duties AND digital projects with a new kit for my JMC Designs design team duties. Whew !

Thanks for looking =)

Custom DVD Case

The beginning of August brings a new challenge at
CELEBRATE !

Create a project, so long as it is not a card,
in celebration of something and share it with us
by months end.

I've some bittersweet news to share:
this will be the final challenge for our group.
It has been decided that after a long,
successful run of inspiring challenges and hundreds
of wonderfully creative and varied projects shared,
the blog will be closing down.
There is a facebook group in the works, though.

I've enjoyed my time as a design team member
as well as being a entrant several times before.
What I liked most was seeing all of your
different interpretations of the challenges !
Thank you for sharing !

My project is a 2 pocket DVD folder I created
for my cousins wedding.
It holds a DVD of video we took and
a CD of photos I took plus digital scrapbook images
(I'll be sharing the sb pages at some point).

It was custom made to match the colors of the
wedding party and decor.
It also matches the Photo Frame Gift
I made them, a fun way to give a gift of money -
and it can be reused !

Paper Photo Frame Wedding Gift - tutorial

Surprise !
Not only is this a photo frame,
it is a gift card/cash holder "card"!

The challenge this month at
Anything But A Card is
Out and About - celebrate nature, your favorite place,
World Environment Day June 5th, the seasonal colors at your place,
 having fun outdoors.
Use these ideas to create a project to share with us
at Anything But A Card.
To be eligible for a Top Pick,
please do not enter your project in more
than three other challenges.

June weddings abound here,
many of them are held outdoors.
Flowers are also in full bloom.
I made a photo frame, with a twist,
 for a wedding gift.

I made this from scratch, no pattern
or instructions to follow.
I'll try to give you the basics here if
you'd like to make your own.
The finished size is a 5 x 7 frame
that holds a 3 x 5 photo .

Start with a 12" x 12" piece of card stock.
Cut one piece 5 x 10
and another 5 x 7.

You will want to score on the 5 x 10 piece at
1/2",   7 1/2 ",   8 1/2",   9 1/2".

This shows the folds.

Each end folds toward you, the front.
Fold the 8 1/2" score the same.
Flip it over then fold the 7 1/2 and 9 1/2 up.
This should make a sort of "zig zag"'fold , mountains and valleys.
This creates the base of the frame.
The two 1/2" scored ends will be glued to the back
of the 5 x 7 piece to create the back of the frame.
Look at the side view photo above for reference.

Supplies I used to make the flowers,
nearly all were from Stampin' Up!:
Spiral flower die , small flower punch (I don't remember the exact name),
Taken With Teal and Pumpkin Pie card stocks,
Midnight Muse and Tangerine Tango inks,
sponge, bone folder to curl petals,
stylus to smoosh the center of the small flower to indent it,
quilling tool (not from Stampin' Up!) to tightly roll
strips of Daffodil delight card stock for the centers of the orange flowers

Pieces to decorate the front.
I think the designer paper name from Stampin' Up!
is Sycamore Street ? Not sure though.......
The colors are very near what they chose
to use for the wedding.

Completed "bouquet".
Old Olive card stock and Always Artichoke ink
were used to create the leaves.
They were cut with the two step bird punch from Stampin' Up!
and a die from Sizzix.
I sponged Midnight Muse ink onto the larger rose.
The smaller rose (just used a portion of the die cut flower)
was left as is.

 Back of "photo corner" bouquet.
It was created from a scrap leftover when I die cut
the Top Note die thinking I was going to use
it as a mat for the photo, then decided against it .
I cut a portion of the scrap piece out (why there is that
fancy cut edge on it), made it into a triangle,
scored and folded in 1/4" along the edges,
attached double stick tape to the two edges.
You want to only put adhesive on the two straight edges
so that you can slip a mat and photo into
the corner , under the flower bouquet.
Think of it as a large photo corner mount.

Making the back pocket with
two sizes of oval dies.
Be sure to use the larger die on the top piece,
smaller die on the bottom mat (if you are using two)
so that the oval mat opening is smaller,
creating a colored mat for the larger oval opening
on the top printed piece.
I just eyeballed them up (after making a center mark)
then held them in place with some tape while die cutting.
Luckily it worked well !

Attach three sides of the pocket with double stick tape
to the back of the frame. Be sure to leave the top open,
unglued if you wish to make it a pocket to insert a
removable tag.
That's the "twist" to my project :
I inserted the gift of heart shaped origami folded money
for the bride and groom
in this pocket along with a handwritten note of well wishes,
so it is a gift - and card - in one !

Experimenting with a tag topper punch (Stampin' Up!).
I shoved an entire piece of card stock, wider than the 2" opening
that it is designed for, in to see if it would cut . It worked well
enough. I then trimmed away the side pieces and used a
corner rounder punch on the corners.
I glued on a piece of organdy ribbon at the top.

Lastly I origami folded two bills into hearts
and attached them to the extra large tag/card
that I slid into the pocket.
