Assorted Oval Frame Cards

All cards are being donated to Operation Write Home.

All images and inks used are from Stampin' Up!
The cards are 4.5" x 6.5", they were a premade card for use with photos. I stamped or covered the front oval cut out portion then stamped images to adhere inside.

Spectrum Samples Cards

I made this set of cards using card stock strips that were created to show the colors for the Spectrum/Kaleidacolor Ink Pads Stampin' Up! sold years ago. No sense in keeping those samples, so I repurposed them into cards to donate to Operaton Write Home.

I peeled the strips off of the card stock sheet they were attached to then glued them onto cards I made to fit envelopes in my stash. The envelopes came from a yard sale. Every once in a while I find a useful bargain at a yard sale, but due to the high gas prices and no need for anything I rarely go to sales anymore. I paid $1.00 for the envelopes and small pieces of white lightweight paper (stationery set) that were originally bought from Hallmark. The paper will be used on the inside of some of the cards.

They measure 3 7/8" x 5 1/2" because the envelopes are smaller than a normal A2/invitation size envelope.
I've kept them blank so they could be used for whatever the serviceman or woman would like.

My favorite ! I just love this cute smiling jellyfish
from the Fishy Friends stamp set

Die Cut Flowers Frame Cards

A few more of the "frame cards" I made to donate to Operation Write Home. This time I covered the edges of the frame with decorative sticker tape, added a piece of card stock to the inside then glued on die cut/punched flowers and tags.
All rubber stamp images are retired from Stampin' Up!

Ships Ahoy - assorted cards

As you've noticed by now, most of the sets I have been using to make the cards to donate to Operation Write Home use retired sets. This is another of those sets, Ships Ahoy.

I used colored pencils on this image.
the "frame" was stamped with the retired stamp,
Old World Map, then sponged with inks

stamped with Versamark ink then
dabbed with chalks on a cotton ball
(some refer to it as the Poppin' Pastels technique)

this is actually an image from Calm Seas set, water colored.
Stipple Shells stamps were used to create the back ground
both sets are retired

Another retired nautical stamp set, Lighthouse,
colored with pencils.

Making Progress - OWH

A regular follower wondered in a recent comment how many cards I have made:
I haven't counted yet, but here is a photo

The top row of cards are all new,
some of which I have already shared here on the blog.

The bottom row of smaller cards still need envelopes.
Most are newly made (I will share some eventually) from old scraps and unfinished samples.
Others are old swaps received that I tweaked and turned into cards.

My goal is to fill this cardboard box.
I think I am well on my way to accomplishing that !
Once I sort, label and pack them I will see exactly how much room is left,
likely add more cards (no sense in mailing empty spaces!).

Bow Wow Meow Meow - asst'd cards

All cards are being donated to Operation Write Home.

Just a couple cards I made to donate using the adorable retired stamp sets from Stampin' Up!, Bow Wow  and Meow Meow.

The cards are a 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" frame card with an oval cut out. You'll see several cards made with these . I also made several with rectangle cut outs. They were a premade set of blank cards and envelopes. Most of them I covered the front with paper then cut out the oval with a hobby knife, but I stamped the fronts of this set.

The two dog cards are blank, like most of them I am making are. I thought it would be better to make cards without greetings (although several of them do have sentiments on them), that way the troops could use them for whatever. I am also really trying to come up with more "masculine" cards.
