OWH Sketch Challenge #188

The sketch is slightly altered for the above sample.

Whisper White and Silver metallic card stocks, SU!
silver sticker paper
Silver Encore Ink
Opalite Arctic Emerald ink (it looks silver on this silver sticker paper)
Four The Holidays stamp, SU!
Snowflakes stamp set, SU!
Martha Stewart snowflake punch
rhinestone

This is the made with the measurements from the sketch.
Egads, this got away from me, far too busy !
Not to mention that I did not make a copy of the sketch,
noting that the banners are supposed to slightly overlap
each other. No wonder it looked so off to me ,
I should have gone back and checked the sketch !

Basic Black, Real Red, Whisper White, silver metallic card stocks
Basic Gray, Real Red and Versamark inks
red colored pencil
clear embossing powder
Need For Speed stamp set, SU!
Celebrate Today, SU!
Think Happy Thoughts stamp set, SU!
Tire tread stamping around wheel, SU!
Gingham stampin around wheel, SU!
circle punches

This is what the sticker paper looks like.
I found it at a fundraiser garage sale for a local gallery.
It was $1.00 for the nearly full package.
I bought it hoping to use it for something crafty,
maybe stamping related.
It says it is polyester metallic laser labels, made by cisl out of England

I see prints on aluminum for sale at photo stores,
so it might be fun - or a disaster!- to try to print on them
with my ink jet printer =)
I'm voting disaster, I have a feeling it won't work
(the ink won't dry) and it may get jammed in
my old printer as it spools around.
Then there is the math to figure out how to line up
where it should print to get on the sticker itself.....
you can be sure if I try it, I will post about it !

Here is the sketch and link for you to play along, too .

Thanks for looking =)

Beads and Ribbons Bookmark

I posted the box previously here.

Mom and I went to a local art gallery "yard sale" over the weekend. The "yard sale" itself didn't have much we were interested in, although I did find a 2" binder I was in need of !

While there, we perused the gallery of fiber arts items that were on display and for sale. Oh my gosh, I should have become more artsy way back when and created more "art" to try to sell, I was totally blown away by the prices on the pieces. I have to wonder if they ever sell any and to who ? Several things were in the thousands of dollars, most were well into the hundreds !!!

There was a small section of gift type items, a bit more reasonably priced. One thing mom picked up, but quickly put back down, was a bookmark made of ribbon and beads. Ding , idea ! I dugout my small collection of beads (another one of those craft projects I wanted to get into and never did, it's not like I wear jewelry anyway) and some ribbon to make one for her ! This one is even fancier than the one at the gallery, though it doesn't have high end Swarovski type beads. I know she reads - a LOT - so maybe she will use it.

I've never made anything like this , but figured it can't be too difficult. It really wasn't, the hardest part for me was bending the ends of the eye pins and attaching the tiny jump rings. I think I should buy a smaller pair of needle nose pliers should I decide to get into beading =)

Supplies:
1/8" satin ribbon
7/8" organdy ribbon
eye pins
assorted plastic beads and spacers
charm
jump rings
needle nose pliers
Fray check
tiny dab of hot glue

Bottle Cap Vintage Birthday Card

I must say, this is one of the fanciest, bulkiest, most embellished cards I have ever made. I don't make many of them since they wouldn't survive being mailed too well plus cost much more to mail especially since I would want to place them in padded envelopes.

I made this for my moms birthday. It was hand delivered along with a little gift I made (and will share tomorrow). She, my daughter, my sister and I went out to lunch. The previous afternoon, the day of her actual birthday, I cooked all morning then delivered a complete meal to she and my dad. I don't know how cooks do it: I labored for several hours, juggling different dishes and trying to time them so they would get done in time and at about the same time, not to mention all of the dirty dishes I created as well as running out of space to cook in ! But, it was all worth it since it was her birthday dinner , which dad said she needs more birthdays so he can have dinner delivered more often, ha ha ! I'd like to note that this is not the first meal I've cooked and delivered to them  (or had them to my house for) though, he was just being funny :)

Anyway, on to the card.
Although I like to think it was all my own creation, I'm sure I was inspired from cards I've seen at one time or another. Certain details may have stuck in the back of my mind and I used them on this card.

Nearly everything used on this card was from Stampin' Up! Just the smashed bottle cap and acrylic craft paint came from somewhere else.

Pink Pirouette, Very Vanilla and Textured Chocolate Chip card stock
Early Espresso, Baked Brown Sugar, Pink Pirouette inks
cream acrylic craft paint

"Sandwich" to smash a bottle cap:
               cutting pad
                bottle cap

OWH VCMP 9 - Negative Space

The snowflake card above is my second card
for this particular challenge-
because I totally forgot that I had started the purple
suspended heart late last night !
I was working on personal projects
as well as the OWH VCMP challenges
and had one of those forgetful moments
(that I seem to be having more of as I get older , ack!).

The challenge you ask ?

I have a tutorial for the suspended card
posted here

The snowflake card uses a supplies from Stampin' Up, some retired:
Jumbo Stampin' Around wheel,
snowflake die, clear embossing powder, Versamark ink,
saying from Snow Much Fun stamp set,
white, light blue and silver card stocks

The heart punches used on the purple card were from Stampin' Up!
The little flower punch was also from Stampin' Up! as is the greeting
(Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set)
The embossing folder is Paper Lace II ,
I'm not sure who made the textured purple card stocks
since they were in a grab bag of scraps I found at a yard sale
a few years ago.
Blush Blossom paper from Stampin' Up! for the flower,
Lavender Lace ink, Stampin' Up!
clear fishing line
rhinestone

OWH VCMP 7 - Fall Cards

The seventh challenge at the Operation Write Home Virtual Card Making Party this past weekend was to
create a card with a Fall theme, but not a Thanksgiving card.
We were also supposed to use a sketch from OWH, I chose #49.

All items used on my contribution were from Stampin' Up!, most are now retired though.
Bear Necessities, Autumn, Lovely As A Tree and Woodgrain stamp sets
Tangerine Tango, More Mustard, Summer Sun, Naturals cream card stocks
various inks for water coloring

I left my card blank, as I do most of the cards I make to donate to OWH, so it can be used for nearly any reason.

Thanks for looking =)

OWH VCMP 6 - Kid Cards

My 5th card for the Virtual Car Making Party challenges at Operation Write Home
The challenge on this stop is to make a kiddie card using the tic-tac-toe board

I used the "tic tac toe" board posted on her site and chose these options:
Things with wheels, Punny Sentiments, Paper Piecing

I also used one of the numerous sketches at OWH, #43.

Stampin' Up! stamp set,
White, More Mustard and Summer Sun card stocks
Summer Sun, Going Gray, Close To Cocoa, Bliss Blue inks
sponged sky and ground
paper piercer
black chisel edge Sharpie marker to create the faux black layer

OWH VCMP 5 - Masking Tape Stamping

My final card for the night for the Virtual Card Making Party at Operation Write Home. There have been lots of fun challenges, be sure to check out the master list here.

The challenge for this card was to
make a card with the Masking Tape Block Stamping Technique.

Mine did not turn out quite as I had hoped, but I'll still use it. I thought maybe if I tore lots of little pieces in random shapes then inked and stamped in a couple of colors it might maybe look sort of like old leather.
Not quite, maybe because in part I started with too light of card stock as the base. Oh well, it was a fun experiment.

Stamp image, retired Equestrian Dream from Stampin' Up!

Creamy Caramel card stock
Close To Cocoa, Early Espresso, Baked Brown Sugar, Cajun Craze inks

This is the masking tape "stamp".
I inked it and randomly stamped it in all
 directions on the card stock.

The tape is kind of neat looking,
maybe I will try to reuse it on a piece
of card stock as a sort of  "decorative paper" piece accent.

OWH VCMP 4 - Love Card with a sketch

Loads of Love !

Another card I made for the Virtual Card Making Party at Operation Write Home this weekend. The challenge: Use Sketch #29 for a Love Card

I flipped the sketch for my card.

Most suppplies are from Stampin' Up!, some are retired;
Loads of Love and A Light Heart stamp sets
hearts embossing folder strip
card stocks
various inks to watercolor
aquapainter
silver Signo gel pen

Thanks for looking =)

OWH VCMP 3 - Triple Layer Stamping

This is my creation for the Triple Die Cutting Technique Challenge for OWH Labor Day Weekend Virtual Card Making Party (VCMP).

This is the first time I have ever made one of these. It is a neat effect, but a lot of work since I don't have nesting dies !

I did some math to figure where I needed to make cut lines then drew the lines on the backs of my pieces. I cut them out with an Xacto and straight edge.

Supplies are from Stampin' Up!, retired
Teeny Tiny Wishes, Itty Bitty Backgrounds, Soft As A Feather stamp sets
Basic Black ink and card stock
Naturals white (I don't remember the exact name, sorry) card stock
punch , I don't remember the exact name but I want to say Modern Label (maybe I ought to write the names of the punches on them so I know!)
black thread from my crafting supplies stash

Thanks for looking, now it is your turn to go play along =)

OWH VCMP 2 - OWH Inspiration

This is my card for the second challenge project for the Virtual Card Making Party at Operation Write Home this weekend:
Create a card with elements that represent each letter of Operation Write Home!

O = Old Car, Olive ribbon
W = Water colored Wildflowers
H = Highways and Byways stamp, Heather gray card stocks

The car image (Thoughts of Father) and map background (Hyways and Byways) are from Stampin' Up!, but no longer available.
