Silver Wedding Anniversary Card

My cousin and his wife recently celebrated their 25th wedding Anniversary. This is the card I made them.

All supplies used were from Stampin' Up! except for the shimmery silver paper.

I used an embossing folder for the flower images. I went over the raised areas with Lumiere paint then lightly painted in the petals with pink ink from my ink pads.

Thanks for looking =)

Wedding Digital Scrapbook Pt 2

The second half of the digital scrapbook album I made a cousin that was recently married. I started with a designer album in My Memories Suite software, but ended up changing or deleting nearly every page then creating my own with elements from that kit (and a few others).

Note that these are not the exact pages. I removed the photos for privacy issues then had to go back in to add shapes in place of the photo boxes. Mats, drop shadows, arrangement and layering are all missing.

I used My Memories Suite V4 (remember, you can get the full version program FREE until October 14th using the promo code FreeTreatNH23 at Mymemories.com; download size 4.5 GB).

The two pages above I made from scratch and they are a different color because they show the reception décor. The decorations were all fall colors: mini pumpkins, mums, oranges, yellows.
The wedding was red and white so most of the pages are using those colors to coordinate with the bridesmaids gowns, décor, etc.

The flowers will be on top of the photos.

The smaller white boxes are for journaling.

Digital Scrapbook Album - Wedding

Another digital scrapbook album I made for yet another cousin that was married ! This has been a year of weddings and babies in our family =)

I used My Memories Suite V4 (remember, you can get the full version program FREE until October 14th using the promo code FreeTreatNH23 at Mymemories.com; download size 4.5 GB).

I started with a predesigned album that comes in the software, Love Love. I changed up or deleted many of the pages and created most from scratch to add to the album. That is such a terrific option, having the ability to change the designers pages to suit your project.

Here are the first set of pages , more will be shared tomorrow. I'll be back to sharing more of the 250 cards I sent to Operation Write Home next week. I'm nearly done sharing the holiday cards and will be moving on to posting the all season cards I made soon.

NOTE: The pages are not exactly as I made them, layers will be slightly off as are the photo boxes. I removed  the photos for privacy issues.  I thought I could save the blank pages to publish. The photo boxes did not save to share so I had to go back in and add shapes in place of the photo boxes (what a lot of work!!!!). Shadows and mats as well as the proper layering of embellishments are not shown in these images.

This is the cover I made . I used one of the papers in the kit. I added a heart shape, white, reduced opacity. I copied the rose element from one of the predesigned pages and pasted it over and over, moving it each time to create this heart shaped wreath. Insert text boxes with Lavendaria font for the title. I used the "global search" to find a white bow and the rhinestone heart element.

I made the above two from scratch.

Altered quite a bit from the original design.

This is the only page that I used almost as is the way the designer made it. I did move the photos a bit and added a white bow behind the roses to the right. The photos would be layered in the roses.

I made the above two from scratch.

These are altered quite a bit from the original design,
using different papers and removing many embellishments.
One page is mirrored from the other.

Thanks for looking =) I'll share the rest tomorrow.

Swing Card How To

Here are the basic instructions for the swing / flip flop
card I made for the blog hop this past weekend.

Cut your card base to size.
I used an 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece of
card stock to start.
I folded it in half creating a
4 1/4"  x 5 1/2" card base.

Take the right side edge of the
card front and fold it back over
to the left folded side of the front.
Crease the fold line.

Open it back up.

Lightly trace the shape you wish to make
the swing part on the right half of the fold.
NOTE: There are tricks to
making this type of card using
dies and die cut machines,
there are even special
dies or cartridges to make them
with die cut machines.
I am showing you how
to make one without
these fancy tools.

Carefully cut around the
traced line on the right half
of the card front.
Be sure to open the card flat first,
you don't want to cut through both layers !

Fold the card front back over
along that fold line you made,
leaving the cut out portion flat.

You will want to cut out another piece,
the entire shape and size of the "swing "
part, to cover the creased piece.
I traced and cut out the same star shape,
but I cut it slightly smaller
than the original stencil size.

Stamp and adhere to the "swing" part.

You can add layers of decorative paper,
emboss, stamp, etc to decorate
the sides of your swing card
if you like.
I cut two pieces of card stock to fit,
trimmed out the star shape,
ran them through and embossing folder
and glued them to the card front.

Wedding Table Markers

My aunt called me one week ago today
and asked if I could make table markers for her
daughters wedding -
this weekend !!!!
Going out of town for a few days
shortened the amount of time
I had to get things done,
but I accomplished it.

She has since called me to ask
us to videotape the wedding
as they did not hire a videographer.
Needless to say,
the past couple of days have
been crazy hectic for me
to get all of these things done in time
to set up the reception hall at noon today.
Then it is rehearsal and dinner tonight,
wedding tomorrow with a not so
favorable weather forecast.

I think just the fancy printed script
would have been fine and
I would have been done in very little time.......
Of course I had to take it up a notch and
add extras (and maybe should have dialed
it back a bit....... but I did since I did not add rhinestones!).
I spent hours and hours making these,
they are two sided with lots of inking,
cutting by hand and die cutting.

There will be small paper ribbon bows
attached to a strip of cardstock that
runs between the front and back
to help hold it in place.
I was afraid they may slide down
out of position
after sitting on the tables for over
twenty four hours before the reception.
I'll glue them together this afternoon
when I set them up.

I hope they like them.......
I'll find out this afternoon.
I'll try to get a photo of them
on the decorated tables.

This sign will go in a basket of mini pumpkins.
I am not happy that I had to try to
hand write like a child with a crayon,
but my printer refused to work
and I was out of time.

I left space at the bottom in case they
want their young daughter to sign it.
I'm not certain, but I have a feeling the
mini pumpkins are supposed to be a sort of
parting gift from her to the young children
as a thank you for coming to her parents wedding.

Needless to say,
my gift of a night out I had already bought
I will be keeping for my family.
All of my crafty work
and now the video job
will be their wedding gift.
I would also like to make a
digital scrapbook for them
earlier this year.
That is, if I am able to take some
decent photos in the dimly lit
church and reception hall
during my video taping duties !

Thanks for looking =)

OWH WCMD Blog Hop 2013

I mailed 250 cards to Operation Write Home on October 1st (I've been posting them the past few weeks and will continue to do so for the next few). The above card was one of several Any Hero cards I included in the box.
Nearly full box !  I stopped at 250 cards -
I wanted to get them in well before the holiday deadline
since half of the box was holiday cards.

World Card Making Day blog hop at Operation Write Home guidelines:  make Thank You cards and use one of their sketches.

My card is loosely based on the sketch below. I tilted it and made the rectangle a star.

I also made it into a "swing card" or as some people call it, a "flip flop" card.
I did not include full instructions to keep this post short, however there are a couple external  links above if you would like to know how to make this type of card. I'll post my step by step another day.

I used a stencil image traced with pencil then hand cut with an Xacto knife to make the "swinging" star.

The red and blue pieces were run through a stripes embossing folder before adhering to the card.

Stamp image colored with markers; image from Stampin' Up!

Thanks for stopping by my page for the World Card Making Day Blog hop at Operation Write Home !

Continue hopping  for more  inspiration at the 125+ blogs that are participating =)

Unfortunately I am unable to participate today due to wedding obligations, but am looking forward to spending some down time the next few days visiting the other participants pages !

"Selfie" Digi Scrap Page - Journal Card

This is a quick page I threw together to feature a journal card
created by GraceBlossoms4U.

All of the other components used on this page
came from her Ready Grow kit.

She has a whole set of these lovely tan, black, white journal cards.
They will be available for a very limited time only, $1.
In fact, there are going to be several digi scrap designers
selling coordinating components for just $1
through October 7th.

You can see more at
Scraps-N-Pieces.com

The kitten photo:
I was taking pictures of the new kitten Hyla.
When looking back at the photos on the computer,
I noticed my reflection in the cabinet doors
so I cropped it in and used it on this page.

Myself in my sons glasses:
This is soooooo cool to me -
I was taking photos of he and his sister
for their first day of college, no idea I would
show up in his glasses.
When reviewing the photos on the computer,
I still did not notice myself in them
(it was a large photo of the entire upper portions
of their bodies).
In another shot that was a bit closer,
I noticed reflections so I zoomed in
to actual pixels and was tickled at
 what I saw:
me taking photos of them
taking "selfies" of themselves !
So this photo is zoomed and
cropped way in to see me in his glasses.

The final one was also by accident:
I was trying to get a few photos of
the river in Chattanooga on our way
back home from a trip last year.
There I am in the side mirror,
photo cropped in a bit for this page.

Autumn On My Mind - CT Projects

Created with the new kit Autumn On My Mind by designer Grace Blossoms 4 U at Scraps-N-Pieces.com   The kit is on sale for  $3.00 for one week only; it will go back to the normal price of $5.99 on the 7th of October. Everything other than the photos and text boxes that I used on these pages are in the kit.

I think I may get the hang of  "clustering" yet ! Honestly, both pages I normally would have stopped at the photos and the background swirly elements, not adding much else. Seeing how the other creative team members for Grace Blossoms 4 U have been piling on the elements in past projects, I decided to try my hand at it on both of my projects this month.

TIP: To fill a shape with multiple images in a digital scrapbooking program such as My Digital Studio or My Memories Suite, copy and paste the shape in place adding a different image each time. The images will need to be reduced, moved, etc to get them to fit properly. I will admit, this took the most time on the page and did cause a few headaches in the process, but in the end I am pleased with how the collage looks !

The text wrapping also took quite a bit of time. This is the first time I have really used that feature in My Memories Suite. I like the effect, but it can be tricky to get the words to fit just so. You may need to resize the font or even add / subtract words to make it fit the way you'd like.

I just got back from a weekend trip to a huge car show celebrating Route 66. I took a few photos, although not nearly as many as I would have liked. I also did not get any along the trip since I drove my own car the entire way. There really isn't much to see anyway: mostly soybean and corn fields. Maybe a few of the photos will be scrap worthy for future creative team projects - I have yet to look at them !

Thanks for looking =)
