Song In Your Heart Holiday Card

Here is the last of my old “cute kids” stamp images from Stampin’ Up! This set is called Song In Your Heart. I do miss the old style stamps. There just aren’t many images that are fun to color in the newer catalogs it seems.

I made a Halloween card and a Thanksgiving Card with similar cute kids.
All three cards were sent to the same person.

This is a 5” x 7” card.

All supplies used were from Stampin’ Up!, many are retired.

Thanks for looking =)

Birthday Facebook Timeline Cover

I had too much fun wasting time
playing around with a digital scrapbook program
to create this facebook timeline cover!

I LOVE that the stamp images can be colored
using a feature in My Digital Studio.

I used three different colors on the flame
then a single color on each of the candles.

The white stripes are achieved by
layering a small white rectangle behind the candle
stamp image which has a transparent background.
If I did not layer the white behind there,
you would see the other candle behind them through
what should be the white stripe.

I mirrored some of the candle images, too,
to create more interest.

It was fun -
and the first time I've used that paint a stamp image feature !

Oh, I almost forgot:
this was also the first time I used the
crop a stamp image feature to chop up
and recreate the sentiment stamp !
It also required some touching up
with the paint feature to remove some parts.

A little bit of black scalloped dots ribbon to finish it off
and I think it is a cheery timeline cover for the day
(just don't count the candles , ha ha !)

Here is a handmade birthday card I received:

Acetate Holiday Card

This is a card created with some old bits and pieces I hadn’t used yet. I added the Holly Jolly stamp, new from Stampin’ Up! this year. The snowflake die cut is from an old Cuttlebug die and embossing folder set of mine. I’m not sure where the striped paper came from , it is an old scrap.

All supplies, other than the snowflake border punch, were from Stampin’ Up!

Winter Magic Digi Kit

Two pages I made with the newly released digital scrap booking kit
by JMC Designs, Winter Magic.
This is such a pretty kit with
unexpected colors for winter/snow,
versatile enough to scrap other subjects.

How timely to have this post publish today
when we are being hit with our first winter
storm of the season !

The first is a photo I staged, having the kids and dog sled/run
down the hill towards me to recreate the scene from a Christmas
card my parents gave us. Mom saw it and knew it was the one to give us
since it had the old house similar to ours as well as kids
and a dog enjoying the snow.

I love the look of pure joy on Cassie dogs face, snow flying
all around her, as she is running towards me.
She loved to play in the snow.

The second page is a photo of Cassie after she had
shoved her face into snow. She liked to do that..
Sadly she is no longer with us and I do miss
my snow buddy. She and I would walk around in it
every chance we got
First thing in the morning we'd wander
around the yard enjoying the peace and
beauty of the freshly fallen snow.

Thanks for looking and don't forget to enter to win a copy of the new My Memories Suite V5 digital scrapbooking and so much more software . The odds are good you may be a winner since this particular drawing is only for readers of my blog  =)  ENTER HERE BY DECEMBER 7th

Countryside Pickup Hybrid cards

The following cards are created with a digital image, Countryside, from Stampin’ Up!

Although it had the apples in the bed and sign on the tailgate, I had to buy this digital image because it is a 1956 Ford F100 pickup truck. It's the same sort of truck my husband has owned for 35 years !

I printed it out then colored it in, layering the image onto decorative papers and card stock to create cards for our heroes to write home on. They were sent to Operation Write Home last October.

The image below I very carefully removed the apples from the bed and sign from the tailgate before printing. I used Photoshop Elements 10 to alter the image.

Once I was happy with the way it looked,  I saved it to my computer for future use. I have used this altered image several times already, even flipping it so the truck faces the opposite way. As you can see from the samples I shared, I even resized the image on some of the cards. I think I may learn to like digital stamp images !

Assorted stamp images, inks and card stocks from Stampin’ Up!

Car images were found online at clip art type web sites. I "collected" car images many years ago, before the whole digi art thing started for other uses. At the time I never thought to print them out and color them in to use on greeting cards !

I printed them out in black ink then colored them in with an aquapainter and ink pads.

These cards were donated to Operation Write Home.

Orange 1966 Mustang Greeting Card

20130923_0072

The rubber stamp images, except for the car, are old retired images from Stampin’ Up!
I believe the tire tread image is called Tire Tracks; it was a Stampin' Around wheel. The gas pump and Route 66 sign are from the Antique Autos stamp set.

The car is a sketch that I saved from somewhere online many years ago before anyone even thought of making digital stamps – or I even thought of using it as a stamp to make greeting cards with. I just saved it because I liked it.

This card was sent to Operation Write Home.

Edited To Add:
I, like so many others, are saddened to hear of the tragic, untimely death of actor Paul Walker.

Reach Out WorldWide is the charity he founded.
Universal Pictures will donate a portion of the sales of
"The Fast and Furious 6 " DVD sales to his charity.
The DVD goes on sale December 6th.

Pink 1966 Mustang Greeting Card

pinkmustang1

What girl / lady wouldn’t love a pink Mustang ? Okay, maybe one that is a die hard "insert favorite automotive manufacturer”  here fan perhaps, but overall I think most ladies would love to receive a greeting card with a pink Mustang on it ! Especially if it is a card filled with words hand written by her sweetheart serving our country over seas.

This is one of the many cards I made and donated to Operation Write Home last October.

The image ? It is one I had saved on my computer many years ago just because I liked it. At the time, there was no such thing as digital stamps and the thought never even crossed my mind to print it out and color it in to use on any sort of project. I just liked the sketch and saved it. So to whomever drew it and shared it, THANK YOU !  I think it was found on a message board.

All supplies used, other than the image, were from Stampin' Up!

On the subject of Mustangs:
We were not in the market for a newer Mustang just yet (I've wanted this body style Mustang, with a nice sounding V8, ever since they came out), but this opportunity presented itself, one we could not pass up. It's far from perfect and has 150,000 miles on it because it was driven daily, 80 miles round trip, by a lady for work in all kinds of weather. I have yet to drive it and believe me it has been difficult to stay out from behind the wheel. It was brought home from out of state Wednesday night, Thanksgiving Eve. Due to the holiday, our insurance agent closed the office the last four days. Our states DMV offices are closed until tomorrow, Tuesday. I do not want to drive the car until it is properly insured, titled and licensed . So I wait, impatiently, until Tuesday......................... I know I am going to love this car ! Although white would not have been my first pick as I have been driving a white SUV for several years, I can learn to live with it ;)

Bits N' Pieces- Chocolate !

The  Bits N’ Pieces collaboration among designers at Scraps-N-Pieces.com this month is chocolate themed - yum!

Mint Kisses by JMC Designs

Bon Bon So Long by Grace Blossoms 4 U
She has three separate bits and pieces kits.

Each "piece" is sold for $1 through December 7th, pick and choose which mini kits you like. After that first week they will go into a collaboration to be sold as one large kit at Scraps-N-Pieces.com

I am fortunate enough to work with two fantastic designers as a member of their creative teams. Below are two projects I made with their contributions to the collaboration.

The project above was created with the awesome Mint Kisses kit by JMC Designs. While there are lots of feminine type embellishments in this kit, I managed to make a somewhat masculine page. When I saw this particular piece of decorative paper in the kit, I immediately knew what photos to scrap. Then it was off to try to find them ! I spent hours (no make that days, rather weeks) scanning many of my old photographs and negatives two years ago. I burned them to DVDs and kept them in a binder with a notebook I made to catalog them. It is not a perfect system and I do not have every photo noted or scanned, but there are just enough main categories that I was able to find these old pictures in about 15 minutes.

The letters and numbers are an alphabet punch. I “photo filled” each letter with a paper from the digital kit Mint Kisses. I then copied them and pasted them slightly off center, filling them with a solid brown.

The flag shapes are also punches from the program and paper filled with papers in the digital kit.

At first I wasn’t certain what I would scrap knowing that there were lots of chocolate related embellishments – and greens! - in the Bon Bon So Long kit by Grace Blossoms 4 U . I remembered a photo from long ago of the dog sniffing around the kids’ Halloween candy. I found it (in that same binder I mentioned above, but it took longer to find since I didn’t remember when this photo was taken) and decided it would work great, especially since she just happened to have her nose on a box of Junior Mints candy!!
