Frap Bottle Flower Vase for Mom

I made three of these for Mother's Day,
filling them with fresh cut iris and ferns
from my garden. These are empty, clean Starbucks
frappuccino/cappuccino bottles.

The frame stamp is an oldie by Stampendous (?).
It was stamped with black ink then die cut with a
Nestabilities circle die.
I colored the flowers with ink and hearts with glitter glue.
It is attached to the paper twist band with heavy duty double stick tape.
The band itself is not glued to the bottle, just wrapped around it snugly.
I didn't want to permanently attach it since it would get ruined
when emptying/refilling/cleaning the vase.

Martha Stewart fern(?) punch, Petite Petals and Flower Trio
punches by Stampin' Up!

White card stock, textured purple card stock (unknown),
Gable green card stock and yellow paper twist.
Finished off the large purple flowers with yellow rhinestones.

MOM WOW Card

The Mother's Day card I made for my mom this year.
It took a bit of time, but it was worth it !

Every item used,
other than the oval die,
came from Stampin' Up!
though most are now retired.

The color combination came from the
Melon Mambo, Tangerine Tango and Crushed Curry.

I used a Texturz plate for the dry embossed polka dots
on the orange background,
a  die and embossing mat for the oval,
then heat embossed an Aida texture with
clear embossing powder on the MOM letters.
Since I used embossing on this card,
I'll link it to the current Our Daily Bread Designs Challenge at
This particular card won't be going to OWH, though.
I have been slowly working on filling a box to donate
and have dozens of cards to share here still.

I am disappointed in the way my printer
interprets the colors on my digital designs............
Below is the word art I designed,
however the colors printed nothing like I intended.
I was going to mount this to a piece of Melon Mambo
before attaching it to the inside of the card,
but since the colors were so off, I did not.
I could have used Crushed Curry
since the orange and pink did not match my card stocks.

I should have chosen a different font,
or flipped and reversed the MOM text box,
so that it would create WOW
exactly the same. Mom isn't nearly
as nit picky as I am on the little details
and probably won't notice ;)

Thanks for looking
and
Happy Mother's Day weekend !

Embossed, Debossed and Die Cut LOVE Card

I made this lovely card for a wedding shower, but the design could be used for other occasions such as Mother's Day!

All supplies used were from Stampin' Up!, though many are no longer available:
I used a coordinating stamp set and punch for the flowers
Die for the word love
Letterpress plate, outside front layer of the card
Embossing folder, inside sentiment layer of the card
Rhinestone accents
Stylus to depress the center of the flowers, giving them dimension

I used My Memories Suite V6 software to create the sentiment inside the card.
Text boxes, a couple of different fonts, export as a PNG and then printed on card stock,
trimmed to fit the embossing folder and inside of the card.

Lily of the Valley

I used a predesigned page that came in the
My Memories Suite software
(I did do some easy altering of it, though)
to make a quick digi scrap page of this
photo I took of my Lily of the Valley blooming.
I LOVE the smell of them !!!!!

Geesh, I just noticed a typo on my page -
great thing about digi scrapping if it hasn't been printed yet,
easy to change things !
This page needs more tweaking anyway.

Shadowbox Frame Photo Display

It's National Scrapbook Day !

This months challenge at Anything But A Card is
"The Masters".
The thing that came to my mind right away
was to do something with old photos
I took while in the mountains years ago.
A sort of "Ansel Adams" inspired project.
Perhaps photography wasn't the exact thing in mind
when the prompt was decided upon by the challenge coordinators,
but I certainly think that there are Master Photographers.
Those that are religious might say that the gorgeous scenery all around us
in our world was masterfully created by their God.
Thus, my project inspired by Masters -
and an inspirational project for National Scrapbook Day !

This is what the shadowbox frame looked like to begin with.
It is actually a bulletin board,
there were glittery black star push pins included.
I bought two of these on clearance years ago
with the best of intentions to make them into
interchangeable scrapbook page frames to showcase
photos of my teens and their accomplishments, etc.

.
A couple of closeups to show the dimension I created.

"floating photos"

I typed up and printed out a small tag,
attaching it with dimensionals
so that it looks as if it is floating.

  How to's:

I scanned the old color photos then converted them to black and white.
They aren't the best photos, having been taken with an old point and shoot film camera
seventeen years ago.

Using Photoshop Elements, I placed all three images onto one 8x10 sheet to be printed.
I just happened to have a free print offer from Walgreen's  !

I had to reduce the panorama shot in quite a bit to make it fit in the shadowbox frame I was using,
so it fit well on the 8 x 10 sheet.

I trimmed the photos then mounted two of them onto light weight chipboard to make them sturdy.

They are mounted to the "page" with various depths of cardboard and
heavy duty double stick adhesive.
The panorama is attached directly to the "page".

I knew I wanted to make some mini aspen trees to go with the photos
(despite there not being any in the photos I used on the project,
we did lots of them in the area though !).

I had some smooth twigs already cut leftover from another project.

I painted them to resemble aspens with craft acrylic paints:
base coat white, grey for lines and black for the splotches.
An old toothbrush was perfect to splatter the tiny
dots, a very fine paintbrush was used to create the bigger spots
and the lines around the trunks.

They are hot glued to a piece of chipboard that was covered in
crumpled brown paper, topped with moss.

The finished 3D embellishment
for my shadowbox frame.

Mechanic Digi Scrap Page

An quick, odd sized digiscrap page I made to share with friends for my sons birthday.
The kit I used was called Dirty Mechanic
and it was found here
It's not really a scrapbooking kit, the elements are quite smal
(they've been enlarged on my project).
I'm not familiar with "tubes" and "tags" this site
referred to. I came across the kit when searching for
mechanic/auto related digital kits.

It was created with My Memories Suite software.
Here is a link to how to use outside content in the program.

TIP: IF you are a user of My Digital Studio
by Stampin' Up! and have not heard about the
company no longer selling/supporting the software,
I suggest you back up all of your downloads
and visit mydigitalstudio.net for the latest information.
YES, the MDS downloads can be used in My Memories Suite !!!
See the side bar for savings on MMS V6 software.

Tomorrow is National Scrapbook Day !
Check back tomorrow to see a home décor item I made,
it could be a fun idea for scrapbookers.
