Digi Challenge Scrap Page

I whipped up this 100% digital scrapbook page to enter into the Digitally Sweet Challenge for June: green and white plus one other color. I came across this all digital challenge site last month.

I don't really work with digital stamps, I prefer rubber stamps. I do, however, like to create digital scrapbook pages and other digi projects, so I'll be playing along with this new to me site.

All items on this digital scrapbook page are from the Daisy Days digital kit by JMC Designs.

It was created with My Memories Suite 7 software.

I'm also entering this page in the PDE Linky Party #126, Anything Goes.

On a side note, for anyone that may follow my blog (THANK YOU!), the baby name frame I posted a few days ago was a bit hit with the Mommy-to-be. She also liked the swing card, yaay ! Always a great feeling when you know someone appreciates the hand made item you give them.

Thanks for looking :)

Swing Card for Baby

The card I made for the baby shower I'm attending this weekend.

Although I know the theme of the shower is the same as the nursery,
forest animals, I couldn't resist making a pink card :)
See the forest animal themed name frame I made as part of
the gift for baby posted here.

Paper is from an old Die Cuts With A View stack.

Stamp images are oldies from Stampin' Up!
as are the inks and card stock base.

Ribbon is from my scraps stash, unknown.

Home made faux brads.

Home made glittery clear embossing powder.

The swing card was easy to make using a die from Sizzix.

Thanks for looking !

Hybrid Name Frame

A "hybrid" name plaque I made as a baby shower gift
to coordinate with theme of the baby's nursery !
I am excited to give it to the mom-to-be this weekend :)

The photograph above shows the dimension.
The project was originally an all digital piece
(shown below)
that I was going to print out to frame,
but my old printer doesn't do a very good job.
I think it turned out better making it dimensional anyway :)

I did not take step by step photos, sorry.
I will try to explain how I made it

HOW TO:

The letters cut from decorative paper were
adhered to white "chipboard" that I cut to fit.

Although I have an old Cricut Create cutter,
I do not have a cartridge that would work
for my project. I was using an old 4" x 10" frame
in my craft supply stash, bought at Target years ago.
I used my standby, time consuming process to create "die cut" letters:
a computer font sized to my project than hand cut out with scissors and an Xacto knife.

I reverse the text image before printing
because I like to print on the back of my papers, that way if a little bit of
ink is left behind from my trimming, it isn't showing on the front.

I add a black drop shadow, centered, around each bold letter
and make the font itself white. This uses less ink and
creates an outline to cut around with scissors to
make letters sized for a particular project.

I used the Impact font at 550 in the My Memories Suite 7 program.
Sometimes I will sponge ink on the edges of the letters
or add texture with embossing folders, stamped images, etc.

After cutting out the letters, I carefully trace around them
onto lightweight chipboard then cut them out.
I like to line up the papers with the chipboard, making sure there are
no little bits that need trimmed before I glue them together.
I brush on a light coat of a clear drying glue to the chipboard
letters, line up the paper letters on top, give them a good press
then lay something with weight over the top while they dry.
I like to layer lightweight decorative papers over card stock
to make them more sturdy, especially if I am adhering them over
a textured background. It keeps them smooth.
It also gives them a bit more depth than just the paper layer alone.

The animals were created with elements from the new
To The Mountains digital kits by JMC Designs.
I resized them, decided to add digital drop shadows,
printed then hand trimmed with small scissors.
They are attached with pop dots / dimensionals.

The textured Espresso Coredinations card stock was run through
a Fiskars texture wood grain plate then lightly sanded.
I also took the time to "fly speck" it with black paint,
but it doesn't really show.
I would have preferred the wood grain design to run vertical
to the elements, but due to the length of the background paper
and the way the design is on the texture plate,
it had to be run horizontally.
I also needed to go back in with a stylus to try to fix
the unavoidable lines it made in the center of the embossed panel.

This photo was taken to try to show the "spacers" I made
for the frame to keep the artwork away from the glass.
This creates more depth for the dimensional elements.
I used strips of chipboard with corrugated cardboard glued on top.
They were trimmed  to fit then stuck in place with heavy duty double stick adhesive.
Yes, this was a tricky procedure, but it sure makes a difference.

Welcome to the House of Cards Challenge Blog Hop !
You should have arrived here from Emily's blog.

The hop runs through Noon CST  June 15, 2016 .
Leave a comment at each of the design team members blogs
for a chance to win one of the many hidden prizes
donated by our generous sponsors!
Full details are on the House of Cards blog.

Create a card inspired from the photo above and share it
with us at House of Cards for another chance to win.

My hop projects feature images from the
Eat Your Cake digital stamp set
and Party Hardy paper pack available from

The first is a paper crafted card,
complete with a spinning image panel.
Give the panel a few twists before inserting it
into an envelope for a fun surprise for the recipient.

I wasn't even thinking when I made this card
to use the inspiration photo colors ! Gah !
Just imagine it made with bright colors instead ;)

I'm entering this spinning birthday card in the current challenge at

Because I used digital stamps and papers, I decided to make a totally digital project, too.
It's a simple digital scrapbook page created with My Memories Suite 7.
I colored the cake image in using Photoshop Elements first
(my first time to color digitally !)
and added black layers to the paper layers.

No inspiration photo colors or theme, either,
since I was limited to what was in the digi kits ;)

Lastly, I wanted to share the first project I made for the challenge.
I like to work ahead of time, so it was completed a month in advance.
It fit the challenge perfectly -
colors, tropical florals, white lattice die to resemble the chair backs -
except that I found out near hop time that I was required
to use an image from a sponsor - oops !
So, I added the Happy Mother's Day tag and gave it to my Mom :)

Thanks for looking at my projects =)

This was to be printed out and framed as a baby shower gift,
but my simple old printer won't do a nice enough job.
Come back tomorrow to see the paper crafted hybrid
version I made instead!

Printable card fronts created with My Memories Suite 7.
I made the sentiments in MMS, too.

This is a Bits N' Pieces kit,
meaning each pack is sold separately.
Each pack will be on sale for $1.00 USD

Digital Birthday Card Front - kit sneak peek

Today I have a "sneak peek" of an upcoming digital scrap booking set
The set releases June 1st at Scraps-N-Pieces.com
and is a wonderful set, great for masculine projects.
I'll share more on June 1st !

In the mean time,
I recently came across this challenge site
that is geared towards 100% digital creations:
I decided to make a feminine card with the
upcoming kit to share at the challenge.

All elements used are in the kit,
some have been resized smaller to fit
the 5.5" x 4.25" printable card front.

The fonts I used for the text are
Debby and Levenim.

My Memories Suite 7 was used to create the card front.

Grad Card Money Holder

Outside

Inside

envelope

I used various retired Stampin' Up! stamp sets, inks, card stocks and dies
to create this money (check!) holder card.
I also used a clear alphabet set for the name and year.

I outlined portions of the word "grad" with a coordinating marker
and added a few highlights with a white gel pen .

The sparkly yellow ink on the "G" is from a set of markers my Mom found
for me at Office Depot. It is attached to a strip of card stock that
wraps around the card  with a dimensional / pop dot.

Dimensions you ask ? I didn't write them down, sorry !
I laid a blank check on a piece of card stock then
made marks where I wanted it to fold.
Trimmed, scored and punched a half circle
in the center of the pocket portion.
The two side edges of the pocket portion are adhered with glue.
