Journal Cards for cat album

This cookies and milk tag was fun to make!

I drew a glass shape onto a piece of acetate
and cut it out with scissors.
I glued a piece of white card stock to it.

The cookie is a paper punched small oval
that is inked and has dark brown splatters
stamped onto it to resemble a chocolate chip cookie
- or oatmeal raisin if you prefer;)

Tag topper punch for the tag
with a piece of stitched grosgrain ribbon
and scrap of patterned paper to finish it off.

My first attempt at using the second hand
Design and Cut electronic cutter I bought
last fall to cut out custom text.
It didn't work as I expected it would.
I assumed that since the text was all joined together,
it would cut it out in one piece. Nope.
Each letter was cut out individually
and on top of that, the cutter software
interpreted the brushstrokes of the
font I used and cut wee little bitty "holes"
into each letter ! I don't have a clue as to
how to use this machine the way I expected it
would work. I better start doing some online
research before I try it again.
I truly thought that since I found a font
that was all connected, the word would
be cut out as one piece. I also assumed
that it would only cut the outlines of the
font, not try to cut out portions of
the inside of the strokes, too.
Sooooooo, to remedy it, I traced and
hand cut every single letter!

Putting to use some stickers that were in a
grab bag I bought at a yard sale last fall.
I've never really used stickers.
I collected some back in the 80's though ;)

This is a combination of two different stamp sets.
I made this journal card to go in the pocket page
that has photos of a cat sleeping on cars.

More old Stampin' Up! images were used
to create embellishments for these photos
on this pocket page.

Store bought element I added ribbon to.

I have more journal cards to make,
so there will be another post to come soon.

Thanks for looking =)

Pocket Pages - cat

Sharing a few pocket style scrapbook pages
I made recently for a cat album.

The brown card stock was pressure embossed
with a wood grain folder.

I paper punched assorted leaves then
stamped them with skeleton leaf images.
They are layered over a detailed lace die
with a piece of twine tied into a bow on top.

The journal card has rubber stamping
and a layer of card stock underneath
that I distressed the edges on.

Lovely As A Tree stamp

side piece and green tab on the journal spot

Flower Pot Cat Scrapbook Page

Various stamps from my supplies
were used to create this cute image
for my journal card.

I also paper punched squares,
trimmed and inked them to make the pot.
Everything is long ago retired from Stampin' Up!

This is a "pocket" type scrapbook page.
I bought the sleeves at Big Lots many years ago
when they sold scrapbook supplies.

I've never used them before and honestly,
I don't really care for them.
I didn't think about the pages behind
showing through around the gaps
of the pockets and that bugs me.
Also, the photos come out too easily
when flipping through the album
on some of them. I guess I'll tape them closed.
Once I use all that I have up (there are a lot!),
I won't buy more. I prefer the larger
single page design pages personally.

Cats and Kids Scrapbook Pages

The first is based off of the sketch below.
I don't care much for the outcome:
the patterned paper squares are not the right size.
My photo is also larger so that throws it off.
I think I'll slide another piece of patterned
paper under that far right side at least
and maybe add a bit of splatter stamped images.
Maybe.

I was getting tired and aggravated
with trying to make something work
with these old papers and elements
for this page,
so this is what I ended up with.
I don't really care for it.

I also don't care for it too much because
the colors of the papers clash
with a photo on this layout.

The layout is my own weird design.

Christmas Cat Scrapbook Pages

I spent the better part of the day making
 these two scrapbook pages.
I overthink them and it takes me so long
to make detailed pages,
but I do like them sometimes.

The lighting wasn't the best when I took
the photos so you can't see the details well.

The bottom of the journaling area has rubber stamped
and iridescent heat embossed snowflakes that I
brushed a water color wash over.
I added rubber stamped and cut out images
attached with dimensionals over
a shimmery paper snow covered ground.
The shimmery details don't show in the photo.

The stamps were colored with markers
to get the dual colors on the trees.
I also used markers on the snowman
image after it was stamped.

The top of the journaling area has a shimmery paper
scalloped edge sewn to the white card stock
with die cut numbers and baker's twine
stacked over a polka dot grosgrain ribbon.

The layout  above is similar to a Page Maps sketch

This is the second page, my own creation.

I've decided I am going to replace the "dec"
image with something else. It looks funny to me.

Some supplies are from Stampin' Up!,
others are unknown.

One Down...

and oh so many more to go!

This is the first pet scrapbook page done
for one of the five pet scrapbook albums
I have planned.

Not all of the pages are going to be "scrapped",

many will simply be photos slid into pockets
with journal cards.

Rubber stamp images from Technique Tuesday
and an old metal rim tag.
I water colored the image with ink from
an ink pad and an aquapainter.

Paw print from Meow Meow by Stampin' Up!
and another old metal rim tag

Old bubble letters and a numerals stamp set, unknown

Inks and card stocks, Stampin' Up!

Patterned papers, CR Gibson (part of a
bundle I bought at Big Lots years ago).
It's the only cat themed paper I have
and I'm not really a fan of it.
I guess I liked it better when I bought
it way back when ;)

The layout is a simplified version of a Page Maps sketch.

Graduation Cards Galore

My Mom asked me to make some
Graduation cards for her to send
out this year. I needed a few, too.
These are the results of a
marathon card making day
recently.

This is my favorite, simple.

I shouldn't have stamped the left side
or else left the stickers off.

The graduate majored in music,
thus the embossed sheet music background

School colors
plus the orange one has a Zebra
embossed background to represent
tiger stripes (school mascot)

Rubber stamp images and card stocks

A Mother's Day Like No Other

Like many others,
our family won't be together for this
Mother's Day
due to the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic.
There is a continuing
Stay At Home order in our state :(
Honestly, we probably wouldn't be together
anyway, we don't want to take
any chances on getting someone sick.

I'll be home alone for the day.
I'll spend it like I do most days,
working on a crafty project.

I'll call my Mom
(as I do nearly every day)
and see if she wants
a quick, socially distanced visit.
Since it is going to be unseasonable chilly today,
I'm going to make home made chicken and dumplings.
I'll take her some for supper
along with a handmade card, of course ;)

Wishing a terrific day to Moms,
in all of the various forms!
Stay safe and well.

Scrapbook Stack

It's National Scrapbook Day !

The past couple of weeks I've been working on this huge project:
 nearly 800 photos organized then
inserted into the sleeves of scrapbook albums!

I have a LONG way to go yet on this project.

The photos need to be attached in place to card stock.
Many of the pages I want to create
a layout and decorate with embellishments.
They also all need to be journaled still.
One step at a time, one day at a time.

I hope you are all doing well wherever you are
in this pandemic. Our state remains under
Stay At Home orders through May.
Face masks are a requirement state wide.
Most businesses and other places are closed,
including the gift shop I had just signed on as a
vendor at to sell my handmade greeting cards.
Many shelves continue to be empty in stores.
I was surprised to see the variety of items
that were sold out the last time I went shopping.
Toilet paper and facial tissues are still impossible
to find. Many food items have been hard to come by, too.
Now there is a run on meat.
Gasoline is currently $1.67 - $1.74 a gallon
in our area.

We have a long road ahead of us to get
things back to somewhat normal,
actually what will be a new normal.
We can't thank all of the essential workers
and first responders
enough for doing all they can to help
keep things running.
Incredibly grateful to all of the healthcare workers
and scientists for their sacrifices while
working on this pandemic, too.

Stay safe, be well.
