Route 66 Festival Scrapbook Pages

I'm nearly done with scrapping the photos I took,
some of which were printed, for the Photo Of The Week
feature our local newspaper ran a couple of years ago.

This is one of mine that was printed !
It was taken at a huge car show and festival
celebrating the storied historic Route 66 in America.
We've been going to this event for several years now,
this past weekend was no exception.
Perfect weather and over 1000 vehicles to see,
lots of quaint shops to peruse, good food.
Always an enjoyable event !

Supplies used for my project:

scrapbook papers were part of a kit that I bought
at Big Lots years ago, Road Trip by American Traditional Crafts

basic black card stock

Cricut Library Fonts cartridge for "2012"

Cruisin' Into Town Scrapbook Page

Papers and map strip are from an old kit bought at Big Lots years ago,
Road Trip by American Traditional Designs.
NOT the colors I would have chosen,
but the streets background paper was fitting for the project
as the car show I took the photo at is held on numerous
streets in the city. Neat , fun event.

Brown grosgrain ribbon

Metallic silver card stock

Cricut Library fonts cartridge to cut out the title.
I am not happy with this, I should have known that
the letters couldn't be welded together to make one long word
in my old Cricut Create machine. This was a new cartridge I
recently bought and it was the first time I used it.
Also, although I used the heaviest pressure on this heavy weight card stock,
it still did not make a clean cut; I had to trim out every single letter by hand.

I've barely used my Cricut in all the years I've had it.
I had more problems with it than success it seems.
Most notably, it doesn't cut cleanly through my card stock
and the right side of every single cut is not cut through at all.
Some sort of glitch in the machine as it cuts on that side ?
It was bought at Big Lots, maybe that is why they had those Create
machines years ago, there were problems with them ?

Anyway, this is yet another page for my
Photo of the Week scrapbook.
The photo was taken as classic cars were cruising into the
downtown area for a car show that weekend.
The photo, once again , printed out much darker than it looked
to me on my computer screen. I guess there must be
some sort of calibration I need done ?

Flamed F100 Pickup Scrapbook Page

This is one of my favorite pages I made for my
Photo Of The Week scrapbook album !
Not too many more photos to scrap
(there were just over 40 total!) and I'll be done!

Hand drawn, hand cut, hand painted flamed paper !

I drew and cut the flames on bright yellow 12 x 12 card stock.
I used two shades of orange and a bright yellow acrylic craft paints
to brush onto the card stock flames.

Once dry, they were glued to red card stock.

2013 is cut with a Cricut Create machine and the Library Fonts cartridge.

Steampunked Scrapbook Pages

My first projects as a new member of the design team for Anything But A Card !

I admit that when I found out it was a Steampunk challenge, I was a bit worried, wondering what I had gotten myself into,  as I have nothing in my crafty stash that would work for that style. Then it came to me: look for digital scrapbooking components, surely there are some out there on the internet !

After a little bit of searching, I found an awesome kit that was perfect.
It is called Steampunk and is designed by Karry Dempsey at pixelscrapper.com.

I used My Memories Suite 5 digital design software to make my two projects.

I find it is easiest to use "outside" components, that means general digital kits by designers other than those at MyMemories.com (or Stampin' Up! if you are using My Digital Studio software) , by keeping them in a separate folder on my computer desktop. I only keep the folder/kit I am working with on the desktop at the time, making less items to search through.  It can be tricky at times doing it this way, such as if you want to use a paper as a background layer it will need to be inserted into a photo box or shape that covers the entire background since components that are not installed directly into the software won't pop up on the search in the software.

Take a moment to check out the other fantastic creations, not only by design team members, but fans that have submitted links to their creations at  anythingbutacard.blogspot.com

1969 428 Mach 1 Mustang Scrapbook Page

Yet another photo I took and submitted to our local newspaper
to be considered as photo of the week.

The Ford logo paper was made by myself and
printed at home.

The waving checkered flag paper strips are actually made from the
final piece left from two other pages I made with
the one 12 x 12 Disney's Cars themed scrapbook paper I bought
this past summer.
You can see the other two pages here

I used the Library Fonts Cricut cartridge with my Cricut Create machine
to cut the letters out of lightweight metallic silver paper.
I probably should have cut out smaller letters and numbers then
1969 rather than the 428 would have fit on the page.

Snowy View/Icicle Lights Scrapbook Pages

This photo was submitted to our local newspaper
to be considered as a Photo Of The Week.
I scrapped it, along with just over 40 others that I am
currently working on, to be a part of my
Photo Of The Week scrapbook album.

The photo printed out darker than it should have like
so many of my prints do.

Snowflakes die and Snow wheel were from Stampin' Up!

Clear embossing powder, heat set

rhinestones

shimmery lightweight white and silver papers, unknown

Icicle Lights photo also submitted

I used a clear dimensional "glue" to create icicles on the above page.

BONUS page, one of the photos I submitted that was printed!

Boring , simple page ( I really need to do something else with this....)

Snowflake border punch on the piece for journaling, unknown - there are no markings on it

Lightly sprayed background paper with shimmer spray (doesn't show)

State Capitol Dome Scrapbook Page

This photo I took was submitted to our local newspaper
as consideration for Photo Of The Week.
It was chosen and printed as an "honorable mention".

I scrapped it for my Photo Of The Week album I've been working on
 the past few months.

Papers are from an old Die Cuts With A View stack.

I lightly sponged tan ink over the bright white text paper.
I chose that text paper since it had a quote from Abraham Lincoln on it.

The brads are faux, meaning I made them from 1/4" circles
punched from black card stock then coated with
a clear drying dimensional "glue".

Crocus Scrapbook Page

Another photo I took and submitted for consideration as Photo Of The Week in our local newspaper. I made it into a scrapbook page for my Photo Of The Week album I've been working on the past few months.

I have yet to add journaling, that will be on and underneath the orange scalloped circle die cut.

It doesn't show in the photo, but I ran the scalloped edge piece through a tiny polka dot Texturz plate.

The die cut butterfly has embossed swirls on it. The die from Stampin' Up! cuts and embosses at the same
time.

I totally forgot to run the bottom die cut edge of the Pumpkin Pie card stock through the coordinating embossing folder, ugh !!!!! I knew I wanted to do that, but forgot as I was laying the things out on the page to determine lengths of ribbon to cut..... "I ought to adhere some of these pieces now so they'll quit shifting.........." Oh well.

Purple card stocks, retired from Stampin' Up!
Orange paper with lines, purple and white plaid paper are from old Die Cuts With A View paper stacks
Ribbons and rick racks, unknown as they were bought in a grab bag of scraps at a yard sale some time ago
Nestabilites scallop edge circle die
Tasteful Trims die from Stampin' Up! (scallop edge on the purple piece)
I don't recall the exact name of the large single scallop die with coordinating embossing folder that were from Stampin' Up! , they are Edgelits dies (orange piece)
