Color Challenge - House of Cards

Above is the card I created for the newest challenge at
It's an inspiration photo challenge this month.
I used colors similar to the photo as well as script.

Stamps, inks, card stock, paper punch and seam binding ribbon
were all from Stampin' Up!, most no longer available.
"hello" die cuts (cream die cut stacked and off set over kraft die cut)
are an old die from Cuttlebug. I don't recall the set name.
Signo white gel pen, paper piercer and a pair
of scissors to distress the edges of the top portion.
Oh, and a piece of sponge to ink the edges of the hexagons!
I thought about running the bottom section through an embossing folder
to give it more of a quilt look, but was afraid to try it and have
all the little stamping/inking details lost. It took quite a while
to make this piece, I didn't want to make another ;)

Thanks for looking !

Last of the Easter Cards

More cards I whipped up for Easter this year.
It was good to get back to crafting after months
of doing nothing and moving my craft stuff.
Yes, it is possible to be out of crafting shape
and injure yourself when you do a marathon day
(or three in my case!) of crafting - I know first hand ;)

Thanks for looking

Friend Card

Another card for the
NOTE: The postmaster at my local post office
made me buy extra postage for this card
due to the brad (not the first time this has happened).
I get charged the extra "non machinable" postage
regularly - one small bump that they feel requires it!
So with that in mind, technically, I guess my card
won't qualify for the challenge.......

The stamp image was heat embossed black
onto water color paper then
water colored in.  I'm unsure of the manufacturer,
it was gifted to me (same with the mini flower brad).
I trimmed it out with scissors and mounted it onto purple card stock.
The embossing folder is an old one from Stampin' Up!
as are the Happy Easter sentiment and wheel I used on the envelope.
The banner was hand cut.

Thanks for looking =)

Paper Bag Bunnies

I made these two silly bunny bags to give to my
nephews. I think this will be the final year
I make them something (they are 15 and 13 after all !)

White paper lunch sack
Pencil to draw the ears on the sack and pink paper
Scissors to cut them out
Circle paper punches for the eyes and "cheeks"
Hand cut with scissors a nose and whiskers
White Signo gel pen for eye highlights
Adhesive

I did crumple my bags up before assembly because I didn't like
the sharp fold lines on the bags. Plus, it gave them more character ;)

I trimmed out the inside folds where the ears are.
I then glued the bag front and back together along the ears.
I should have glued all along the top edge of the head, too.
I gave the ears a pinch at the base to finish them off.

Thanks for looking =)

Easter Wishes card

Dry embossed (old embossing folder from Stampin' Up!)
then colored with chalks (Stampin' Pastels from Stampin' Up!)
and a blender pen. I used a sponge tip applicator first,
but it the colors were too soft for my liking.

Old rubber stamp images and paper punches were also from Stampin' Up!

Hot pink glittered chipboard butterfly, from my stash of supplies found
at Big Lots long ago, manufacturer unknown.

Thanks for looking =)

I'm entering my mail friendly card in the
(although mine isn't all purple.....).

Side Step Easter Card

Happy Easter
to those that celebrate!

This is called a "side step" card.
It folds flat and fits into a regular
invitation size (A2) envelope.
The instructions were found at

The stained glass stamp image is an old one from Stampin' Up!
I stamped it on water color paper with Versamark ink
then heat embossed it with black embossing powder.
The image was water colored in with inks from
my Stampin' Up! Classic ink pads and an aquapainter.
I squish the closed lids onto the ink pads, flip them open
then use the aquapainter to lift ink from inside the lids
to water color with.

Daffodil Delight card stock was run through a
Cuttlebug embossing folder, Oriental Weave.

The larger Midnight Muse card stock piece was die cut
with a Scallop Rectangle Frame from Sizzix,
The smaller was punched with an old punch from Stampin' Up!
(I'm unsure of the name, perhaps Modern Label?).

The larger white piece was die cut with a Sizzix/Stampin' Up! die,
Chalk Talk Framelits.
The small white piece was paper punched with the old
Word Window punch from Stampin' Up!

I lightly ran the edges of the white pieces across
a silver Encore ink pad before adhering them to
the Midnight Muse pieces.

Sentiments from Everlasting Joy (?)
and Teeny Tiny Wishes, both from Stampin' Up!,
were stamped with
Midnight Muse ink onto Whisper White card stock.

Thanks for looking =)

Stained Glass Flowers Card

I'm quite pleased with how this card turned out.

I stamped the Stained Glass image
(and oldie from Stampin' Up!)
with Versamark ink onto water color paper
then heat embossed it
 with black embossing powder.

I water colored the image with
inks from my ink pads and an aquapainter.
I squish the closed lids onto the ink pads
(Classic inks from Stampin' Up!),
flip the lids open the use the aquapainter to
pick up the ink from inside the lids to color with.

It is mounted on circular die cut piece of purple card stock
that I added two purple eyelets to.

The stamped image is attached to the
dry embossed card front with pop dots.
The embossing folder used was from the
Paper Lace II set by Cuttlebug.

I ran white 5/8" satin ribbon through the eyelets
then underneath the embossed top piece.

Cute Easter Bunny Card

Aww, I think this this Easter card turned out pretty cute ! It was time consuming, but making the basket full of Easter eggs  (and the bunny himself) the way I did makes a big difference in the look of the card I believe.

I stamped and water colored the bunny image on white card stock then carefully trimmed it out.
Originally I thought I'd do paper piecing on it, something I never do, but couldn't find any papers I was happy with in my stash to use.

I did the same thing to the basket then oh so carefully cut it out with an Xacto knife.

Little scraps of pastel colored card stock were stamped with the teeny tiny egg image then hand cut with sharp, tiny scissors.

A small scrap of green card stock was "fringed" to make grass by snipping along one edge with the tiny scissors.

I layered and glued in place all of the eggs and grass behind the basket top to make it appear they were in it.

The basket is attached with a dimensional/pop dot.

I stamped extra bow images, cut them out, slightly bending them for dimension before gluing into place on top of the base images.

The bunny is glued in place on the torso mainly so the ears and arms pop away from the card base for some dimension.

The pale yellow, slightly textured card base was run through an embossing folder (oldie from Stampin' Up!, I think it was called Tulip) before adhering all of the pieces.

The rubber stamp images are from an old Close To My Heart stamp set.
Inks and card stocks were from Stampin' Up! except for the yellow card base which is unknown. I bought a set of them with matching side opening envelopes on clearance at Big Lots long ago.

Thanks for looking =)
