Penny the Beaded Spider
I'm back home safe and sound after a 2400+ mile road trip. Whew!
Eight states in eleven days (we were shooting for ten states, but plans changed).
I've not been online once while gone although it may look like I was with the posts each day.
I planned ahead and had numerous posts set up to publish while I was on the road ;)
Time to get crafty again and catch up on design team duties!!!
While on our road trip, I planned a stop at a little antique radio museum in Pennsylvania.
The owner is so friendly and knows so much about the wide variety of radios he has collected, even spent some time talking cars with my hubby. We could have spent much more time there than the 90 minutes we already had, but we had a schedule to stick to, lots of driving to do yet that day. It really was interesting, I had no idea that there were so many variations of radios!
We'd already spent some time in the museum when the owners wife came in. I thought I was in her way, so I kept backing up, trying to move aside. While doing so, she said nothing as she reached out for my hands and cupping them, placed something in them. I caught a glimpse through the crack in the fingers of what appeared to be large leg like that of a spider. I nearly screamed and jumped back, letting whatever it was fall to the floor because I do not like spiders. My mind was racing, why would she be putting a spider in my hands, it couldn't possibly be. Be brave, I'm in a museum and would easily knock over a piece of history if I did jump. It was all I could do not to in those couple of seconds, believe me !
I slowly opened my hands, heart racing, and sure enough, it was a spider, a large one at that, but it was one made of beads !
I had to laugh while breathing a sigh of relief, leaning in to give her a hug and exclaim "Thank you ! How did you know that spiders are my favorite critter?!"
I've seen beaded spiders, be it brooches or ornaments, so I decided to look online to see if there was some significance to them. Sure enough, there is.

That beaded spider sat on the dash, hopping with every large bump in the highway, the rest of the trip until we got home where she'll now sit in my craft room. I think I'll place her in a clear plastic box for the time being so as not freak me out, until I get used to seeing her :)
Oh, I call her "Penny"since she came from Pennsylvania.

Remember back in early September when I said I made several scrapbook pages over a rainy weekend ? Well, I'm finally getting around to sharing some of them. I also realized that I hadn't shared some I made in December of last year ! I've been making so many things to share that it takes time to get them all posted - and to remember which have been shared ;)
