CAS Valentine

Getting the embossing powder to work was

the most difficult part of this project!

Even using a "powder pal", I kept getting

stray bits of embossing powder. 

Three attempts and I called it quits.

Then I overheated it, making it dull.....

but it matched the metallic silver paper

better that way anyway.

Die cut heart and greeting were from Stampin' Up!

Don't look too closely at this one, it's crooked and some of the Xs are upside down ;)

Love Birds Card

This was a pretty quick card to make.

The thing that took the longest was trying to get 

the birds stamped on the pink line of that paper

so I could cut them out. Four tries and I finally

had them centered well enough. 

Trimming out and gluing those wee birds

(and heart!) was fun, too. 

Supplies:

Stamped image (Olive You by Stampin' Up!) on a tag.

Stamped again onto patterned paper scrap

to cut out the birds and glue them over the stamped image.

Teeny tiny heart paper punch glued 

over the stamped miniature heart.

Loose lines drawn around the edge of the tag.

Organdy ribbon and twine

to finish off the tag.

Tag is mounted with dimensionals

over patterned paper (DCWV)

and card stock layers.

Valentine Shaker Card

This card was a bit time consuming

and the first shaker card I've made in a long time.

Supplies:

Letterpress background and

heart shape die cut were from Stampin' Up!

Striped ribbon, unknown

Love die cut, Micheal/Recollections

Beads, "glitter" and mini die cuts for shaker material

Red, white and silver card stock

(I intended on putting a silver layer behind the shaker!)

acetate

double stick tape

fun foam

My little groundhog saw it's shadow today!

First day we've had sun in I don't know how long.

It's going to be unseasonably mild today, too.

Seeing the shadow means six more weeks of winter 

according to the tradition - the forecast seems to 

somewhat agree for this week, too. More cold on the way.

For My Love Card

Not a fan of this one. I think the tiny heart charm is "lost"

and I need to replace it or add something to it it......

Tin Tile embossing folder, Love die and card stocks

were all from Stampin' Up!

"for my" is  Old Typewriter stamps 

and heat embossed white on black card stock

I tried applying distress inks on the silver card stock,

but they mostly rubbed off.

CAS Masculine Bday Card

Simple card I made for a nephew.

Lining up the paper punches

was a little bit time consuming, though.

I came up with an idea to help:

I made a "spacer" to mark

between each letter on the back of 

the card stock.

I punched a letter upside down,

then made a mark along my spacer

to help line up the next punch.

I worked backwards and upside down.

It worked better then trying to "eyeball"

it from the front as I did on the

Christmas crackers I made last year!

Maybe this is why Mom found the alphabet

paper punch set at a yard sale a couple of years ago.

It is tricky to use,

especially if you are OCD about things being

perfectly aligned!

Textured white, textured black, red card stocks

Sweet 16 Cupcake Card

Hubby asked me to make a 16th birthday card.

I've not had a chance to use this sentiment yet

(from Stampin' Up!) so I knew I wanted to for this card.

Cupcake stamp and die are unknown.

The embossing folder was from Cuttlebug.

The 16 was made with dies from Michael's/Recollections.

Hand cut and paper punched sprinkles.

All papers and inks from Stampin' Up!

Everything Is Rosy Cards 2

These are the second batch of the ten cards I've made so far

with the Everything Is Rosy collection from Stampin' Up!

I made several random cards, no particular need for them.

Everything used on the above card, 

other than the sentiment, came in the kit.

I ran a piece of white card stock through the Subtle 

embossing folder to give it texture. 

I thought about cutting apart the die cut flowers piece

then reassembling it with dimensionals and 

inserting some more rose gold metallic die cut leaves.

I still may...

This card was chosen as a weekly favorite 2/8/2020

I ran a white piece through the Subtle texture embossing folder.

I added a piece of baker's twine from my stash.

Sentiment is from another stamp set. 

Greeting from another stamp set,

but everything else was in the kit.

Last weeks FAVORITE of the WEEK for CAS570 is Heather with THIS CARD!!!!!!

The kit came with pretty metallic paint.

I wasn't really sure what to do with it,

but decided to randomly brush some on

 white card stock. Inspired by the brush strokes

on some of the patterned papers in the kit.

I added thin copper thread and a different greeting.

This is another tri panel card like the one I made

for Christmas . Instructions here. 

The center piece of the circle is actually

a label of sorts that was in the kit, but I die cut into a circle.

Now to find a small greeting to fit it ;)

Everything Is Rosy Cards 1

I recently bought this large kit from Stampin' Up!

when it was on their Clearance Rack.

I admit I didn't absolutely love it,

but I liked that it came with so many things

to play around with. I could make lots of

cards and other items with it.

I did really like a couple of the dies,

thinking they could be combines with some other sets.

Today's post shows 5 of the 10 cards

I've made so far. Some I like,

others I feel like need to be reworked.

I think part of the problem, for me personally,

is the patterned papers. I don't use those much.

Things get to feeling too "busy" to me. 

I did say I had been on a card making spree 

earlier in the month. I've condensed the posts down

to several cards in each rather than a single card a day.

The flower embellishment is made with a mold

and air dry clay SU! sold years ago.

I painted it with acrylic paints.

The sentiment is from a different stamp set. 

I added brads to this card and the sentiment 

is from a different stamp set.

This one got out of hand with the patterned papers! 

I tried to color the die cut with markers.

The sentiment is from a different stamp set.

I cut one slotted end off of the tag from the kit

to give it the "fishtail" look.

I added some loops of thin copper thread to this card,

but you can't see it very well. 

The greeting is from another stamp set.

This card was originally too "busy"to me,

so I added the solid pink piece to tone it down.

That pink piece looks bare now next to all of the

other things going on!

Also, I stamped it crooked, so in order to

save the rose gold tag, I stamped the image

on a piece of scrap paper then die cut it out

and adhered it over the top.

I'll be sharing five more cards made with this kit tomorrow.

I wish I had bought a second kit while they
were available on the clearance rack.
I've had so much fun creating these cards.

I used various other supplies

and embossing folders
to complete these cards.

Maybe I should have left the green horizontal ribbon

 off of this one, or at least not made it go across the 

entire width of the card..........

it looks funny to me now. 

Maybe use a scrap to tie a bow

and attach it to one side? 

Or just leave it as is before I make it worse.

Tough to know when to call it quits sometimes, isn't it?
