Birthday Clown Cards for Girls and Boys

My original post about these cards:

The Midweek Throwdown at Operation Write Home this week is BIRTHDAY cards with the added twist of making a masculine and feminine version of the same card! I'm tickled to say that my cards above were chosen as the inspiration for this weeks challenge !!! What an honor =)

For this weeks challenge, I decided to make birthday cards suitable for children
(or adults that don't fear clowns, ha ha !).

Party Time stamp set, Stampin' Up!
Inks, card stocks and tag topper punch, Stampin' Up!
Ribbons from my stash of scraps and tied with embroidery floss
Cuttlebug embossing folder
Sharpie fine point marker to draw balloon strings
I stamped, colored, cut out then gently smooshed the balloons
into the palm of my hand while still damp to give a bit of
dimension to them, making them a bit curved rather than totally flat.
I attached the balloons with glue dots.

Note: I mentioned in a post the other day that the ink color changed
after drying when I water colored with it and
wondered if it was getting old (Poppy Parade).
I noticed that most of the colors on these cards changed, too
(Real Red balloon, polka dots and nose on the green card
and Strawberry Slush nose and hair on the purple are the most drastic).
Now I'm beginning to wonder if it is this new package
of white card stock that was given to me as a Christmas gift ?
Is it possible that there is some chemical in it that is reacting to the ink colors?
Or coincidence that many of my inks are going bad,
they look fine when applying them to the card stock, but then dry totally
different shades of what I want.

Thanks for looking
and if you have the time to play along,
link up your creations to share and inspire others =)

Operation Write Home Memorial Day BLOG HOP this weekend !!!!
My card is done and I
can't wait to see what others have created
(though it will take me a week to get through them all!)

  1. Hi Heather! Congrats on being the inspiration for the Throwdown! This was a fun one! I'm not afraid of clowns (LOL)...I love them! These two cards are great. I love how you used the tags with the embossed background! Thanks for sharing!

  2. Love the colors on the clown and balloon cards...the first ones are beautiful...great use of the papers and sketch.

  3. Congrats on the shout out for your geometric cards! Love those!! Your clown cards are so cute too!
You might want to try a different paper. I have some reds that are as old as the hills (well, maybe not quite that old) and they still stamp true to color.

THANK YOU for taking the time to leave your comments. I hope I've inspired you to get a bit crafty today ;)
