Frosty Blue Christmas Card

The challenge at 

52 Christmas Card Throwdown this week is a color challenge:

shades of blue plus white and silver.

The idea that immediately comes to mind with that color palette

is snow. I wanted to do something different though. 

I decided to make a silver Christmas tree,

reminiscent of the old aluminum Christmas trees! 

I used silver embossing powder on a pine branch image that was stamped with Versamark ink.

The ornament image was stamped with a an old Frost color Kaleidoscope ink pad (there are three shades of blue on it, difficult to tell in the photo) onto glossy white card stock. I then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder and punched it out with a coordinating paper punch. It is mounted on a pop dot / dimensional.

I carefully added thin lines of diamond Stickles on the swirls of the ornament.

Light blue ink was used on the background stamp. NOTE:  The background stamp was an afterthought because I thought it looked too empty, too much white and "off balance" to me otherwise. I should have stamped the background first rather than after embossing the branches. The branches would have been lined up better with the main sentiment on the background stamp.

The stamped piece is layered onto silver metallic and medium blue card stock then adhered to a pale blue textured card stock base.

Silver edged white organdy ribbon and narrow polka dot light blue ribbon are tied into a knot then hot glued to the top of the ornament to finish it off.
