I've had a sketch with dimensions for this type of card
sitting on my desk for some time now.
Seeing the sweet scrappy Christmas cards my
blog friend Margaret has been sharing recently
prodded me into finally making one of these cards.
I don't need more Christmas cards this year,
but I wanted to make one of these new to me
fun fold cards. So I now have another card
put back for next year -
and want to make more of these cards!
I had to cut into new sheets of
designer paper to create this card.
I have scraps, but nothing
nearly as pretty or that coordinates well.
This paper is from Stampin' Up!
so it matched my card stock and inks
(also SU!) almost perfectly.
I used Cranberry Crisp and Gumball Green.
I thought the green matched better when I was
making the card, but in the bright sunlit room
taking photos I saw that it did not,
Same with the ribbon :(
The die cut MERRY is from a die set I bought
from Michael's/Recollections a couple of years ago.
Christmas is from Everyday Flexible Phrases (SU!).
Circle Dies
The organdy ribbon and metal star brad
were in my stash, unknown.
Here are a few more photos:
Flat for mailing
Trying to show how it will open.
Mine slides open with no problem.
Depending on the size and placement
of your center sentiment panel,
you may have to slightly twist
the long decor paper panels to open it.
This is it all the way open, face down,
showing how it looks with the
alternating panels.
I don't know the exact name of this type of card
or where I saw the tutorial so I could link in case you are interested.
Here are the dimensions:
Card base: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of card stock .
Score it at 2 1/8″ from each end along the 8 1/2″ side.
Fold the ends in to create a 4 1/4" wide x 5 1/2" tall card.
Card stock panels are 1 5/8″ x 4″.
Designer paper panels are 1 3/8″ x 3 3/4″.
The top and bottom panels are attached to the right side.
The middle panel is attached to the left side.
Thanks for looking
and
Happy Holidays =)

Ok...this is so COOL! I never thought to do panels like that!! I need to make these! Thanks for the shout out too!
