Beautiful Blossoms Sympathy Card

ACK ! I dropped a stamp !!!!!
One of these days I'll learn to do the inside first;)
I had the front done and attached, so rather than
try to cut it apart and attach to another base,
I added an embossed layer over the mishap.

SUPPLIES:

Beautiful Blossoms stamp set
Loving Memories (? unsure of set name) - inside

Whisper White card stock

Summer Sun, More Mustard, Garden Green, Always Artichoke
inks (I think.... don't remember exactly!)

Tulip embossing folder - inside panel

Scor Pal to create my own
diagonal line embossed background on the front

Oval Nestabilities die

Rhinestones

Dimensionals  / pop dots - under hand cut flower images

Chipboard cut to fit behind the entire front panel.
I did this rather than use numerous pop dots so
it was evenly raised from the printed sentiment panel.

Sentiment on the outside I created myself and shared here

This is a 5" x 7" card

I'm entering my card in the newest challenge (#354) at

Digi Stationery

Today I'm sharing printable stationery I created with My Memories Suite 7 software and the new digital kit Remember The Time by JMC Designs.

I like coming up with digitally created items with kits that are made for scrapbookers. This shows the versatility of digital kits as well as the My Memories Suite software.

I'm entering this project in the August monthly challenge at Digitally Sweet. florals DSC #153.
This is a 100% digital challenge site I recently discovered and have had fun participating in.

How I made the stationery:

I started by making a custom size design my own template to work on.

I opened the embellishments and background paper in the My Memories Suite software with the BROWSE feature.

The background flourish was made by copying, pasting then flipping the element that came in the kit, combining the two together to make a longer symmetrical flourish.

I layered various embellishments from the digital kit, most were reduced in size.

Drop shadows were added to each.

I added a text box on top of a tag element, using Levenim and Debby fonts.

Thanks for looking :)

My stationery was featured August 17th at Digitally Sweet.

Snowman Card Sketch Challenge

The new challenge (52CCT30-16) at
to use a sketch from the past year.

As soon as I saw the sketch below,
I knew I had to flip it to make a snowman ;)
I'm really happy with the way it turned out.

April 2016 sketch

DETAILS:

1/4" paper punch circles that I crumpled up for coal eyes.

Oval paper punch punched a second time at an angle
to make the nose. I sponged darker orange along the bottom
and drew on a few faint lines. I added a dimensional
to the back of the nose at the top and glued the base of the nose flat
to the face to give it some dimension.
The head is also attached with dimensionals.

1/4" circle punched black card stock
that I pierced holes in to resemble buttons.

Striped grosgrain ribbon that I frayed the ends on
to create the scarf.

The white die cut circles were run through a Fiskars plate two times, turning it at a different angle at each pass, to create the texture.

I stamped snowflakes with white craft ink onto Soft Sky card stock. The edges of the Soft Sky card stock were also sponged with the white ink, but it doesn't show up well.

I hand cut the banner for the sentiment and attached it with a red paper clip for something different.

Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra August Anything Goes
Love To Scrap  Take Two : two large circles to create the snowman
(I could really stretch the take two idea by saying I used two pieces of ribbon to create the scarf, two crumpled pieces of card stock for the eyes, two holes punched in each button, two colors of ink, two different rubber stamp sets used, two non paper items..... ha ! )

Thanks for looking =)

Stitched Kindness Card

The August challenge at
is an inspiration photo:
use the colors and/or twine on
your card creation.
You have all month to play along !

My card above uses similar colors
and embroidery floss .

HOW TO:

I used three shades of pink that are similar
to some in the colors in the inspiration photo.

I made my own stencil out of scrap paper.
It was placed on a piece of card stock already
cut and folded to an A2 size ( 5.5" wide x 4.25" tall).

Once I was finished sponging on the inks,
I trimmed along the left edge of the heart.

I colored the rubber stamp with a dark purple marker (text)
and a light gray marker (script portion).
Gave it a little huff of warm breath to make sure the water based inks
were still wet enough then stamped it on my card front.

I threaded an embroidery needle with purple embroidery floss
then stitched over the script portion of the sentiment.
I did not pre-punch holes, the needle was sharp enough to
poke through the card stock.

I decided to round the lower right corner as a finishing touch
since the upper left had the rounded edge from the heart.

I'm entering my card in the

Patriotic Painted Chair

The project I'm sharing today is an old wooden chair
that I repainted and turned into a flower planter!

It's my project for the new

a monthly challenge
that is always anything goes.
We invite all sorts of hand made,
family friendly craft projects.
They do not need to be paper crafts.
No digital projects, please.

PROJECT DETAILS:

I used indoor/outdoor acrylic craft paints
and a foam brush to paint it.
Be sure to clean, sand and prime
the old wood before painting to
help the paint adhere.
Although it is not necessary to seal
indoor/outdoor paint, I gave my chair
a light coat of clear spray sealant.

I made my own star shaped sponge stamp
from a compressed craft sponge.
I simply punched a piece of scrap card stock
with a star shaped punch, traced it onto the sponge
then cut out with scissors.

Be sure to get your sponge piece damp
before stamping with paints !
Carefully start stamping one edge of your sponge stamp then gently
roll it around the surface, being careful not to slide it. Lift straight up
to remove. Stamping with paints is a bit slippery, be prepared to wipe
up mistakes right away with a damp rag.

Keep a damp rag nearby when stamping with paints.
If you make a mistake, it can easily be wiped off right away.
Don't allow it to set for any length of time because it will
start drying and leave bits left behind when you wipe it off.
You don't want to use too much pressure
to remove the mistake because it could cause damage to your base coat.

I really wanted to add hand lettering to the rungs
along the back, but just could not get it to look right.
I tried several times on the top red one, in fact I needed
to touch up the paint I wiped off my goof ups so many times :(
Maybe I'll try it again in a few days after I've walked away from it.
You may be able to relate, sometimes it helps to come back
to a project after the frustration has worn off.

The seats of these salvaged old chairs were just strips of burlap.
I removed the two center strips to create an opening
to place flower pots in. I'm still trying to decide if I should
paint the exposed wood pieces between the burlap red........

Take a look at two others made with the same
type of chairs. They are not painted entirely as this one is.

both were painted top to bottom - and still in use !
One is mine, the other I gave to my parents.
Both are kept on covered porches out of the elements.

Oh, and that old patriotic painted milk can in the photos?
I painted that years ago, too. It's due for a touch up!
