Metal Angel Ornament Card

This metal angel ornament was made from a kit
 I bought years ago.
The pieces are adhered with E6000 adhesive.
I added thin gold cord and ribbon to make an ornament
then attached that to a simple card front.
I used a scrap of ribbon leftover from my
cinnamon stick angel project posted previously
as a background for the ornament.

Thanks for looking and Happy Holidays !

Caroler Ball Ornament

This cutie was created from an old kit I had.
The base is a large green plastic ball ornament.
I slightly altered the kit by painting the fabric face
(the green was showing through otherwise)
and making the earmuffs from cotton batting.
The nose is a small wood "button".

Thanks for looking and Happy Holidays =)

Cinnamon Stick Angel and Card

Such an old craft idea I finally made -
plus a matching card !

I slightly altered my angel from the original instructions
I found in an old crafts book.

The main supplies are wide wire edged ribbon
and cinnamon sticks.

The body is a made from scratch
"finger shaped" stuffed muslin piece.
The original pattern calls for a piece of foam.

Other than stitching the body portion,
everything else was hot glued into place.

Goodbye, Design Teams

We've decided to close down Digitally Made Challenges this month.
The blog owner/creator had to leave due to unforeseen circumstances.
I've been trying to keep it going in her absence these past 6 months.
It has been a lot of work. With dwindling participation
and views, I've decided it was time to close it down.
Perhaps one day she will be able to start it up again.
Thanks to everyone that has participated, followed and read
our little digital craft challenge blog the past year!

Below is the final digital piece I made for
Digitally Made.
The digital papers and "spray" are in the
new My Memories Suite 9 software.
I created my own digital sentiment stamp.

I don't plan to be posting nearly as often
once I finish sharing the Christmas cards made this year.
I won't have much design team work to create and share:
Digitally Made Challenges is closing down this month.
Making Memories disappeared from the internet.
I'm retiring from House of Cards at the end of the year.
The digital designer I worked for is "retiring".
That leaves just the Love To Craft Challenge Blog
to create for and my personal blog to maintain.

It's a good thing to not be so tied up with all of the
design team duties, although I will miss designing for them.
I'm planning on working on some much neglected projects around the house.
Plus, I still have hundreds and  hundreds
(make that thousands and thousands!) of photos to get into albums.
Then there are the oodles and oodles of projects to make.
I'd forgotten how many to-do kits, etc I had collected
over the years since most of my crafting has become card making.
I will post them as (if!) I get them finished,
just not posting as frequently as I have been.
Add to the list digital scrap books I want to make .....
and the sewing projects and ........ the list goes on !
 Perfect winter long projects ;)

Thanks for reading, I hope that I have inspired you in some small way to get a bit crafty.

Happy Holidays !

and share it with us at
by December 15th for a chance to win
one of the following prizes:

 Choice of 3 products

$10 to use in the store

choice of one set of digital stamps.

The three remaining prizes are hidden among the design team
members blogs, so you'll want to leave comments
at each stop for a chance to win !

MY SAMPLE CARD DETAILS:

Images used from

Whisper White card stock stamped with White craft ink
and the Woodgrain background stamp by Stampin' Up!
I then ran a stylus along the lines of the boards on the image
on top of a scoring board to create the "planks".
The metal of the stylus reacted with the white craft ink,
a happy accident, so I didn't need to go back over with a
gray marker ! This is meant to recreate the wall in
the inspiration photo.

The image was printed onto kraft and white card stocks
then carefully hand cut with small, sharp scissors.
I created layers with dimensionals and chip board
scraps. The stocking image was colored with a white
colored pencil then slightly curved to create a bit of
dimension before adhering with dimesnsionals.

The tag was printed then punched out with an oval punch.
I sponged vanilla craft ink along the edges then
lightly stamped the itty bitty speckled background stamp
from Stampin' Up! This piece recreates the basket of wood
in the inspiration photo.

I hand cut a star shape from wide "canvas" ribbon
in my crafts stash. I also added a tiny kraft heart.
These elements are inspired by the
decorations on the Christmas tree in the inspiration photo.

Thanks for looking
and
Happy Holidays =)

Recovered Scrapbook Album

Hello and Happy Holidays !

Today I'm sharing a recovered scrapbook
as my design team project for

It was cute enough as it was,
but I ordered dozens of 12"x 12"
prints of Christmas themed digital scrapbook pages
earlier this year (printed at Persnickety Prints)
and needed an album for them.

Rather than buying a new album,
I decided to recover this one I hadn't used yet.

It is a 3 ring album, like the old photo albums
from years ago that people, myself included,
covered with fabric, batting and lace.

Remembering those that I covered way back when,
I thought I'd do the same technique with this one,
only using a sturdy handmade paper
(it was sold as gift wrap so it was large enough)
and no batting.

I'm not sure how well it will hold up,
then again this album will only be opened
once a year at my extended family get together
during the holiday season. I tried to take
photos of many of the families that were in
attendance the past few years, then made digital scrapbook pages.
I thought they might enjoy looking back on them,
especially as many of them are having little ones now !

How did I do it ? Read on !

The first step was to cut out a large piece of paper.
I used a heavy duty gift wrap with real stitching on it.
It's almost "fabric" like, quite sturdy paper that was hand made
according to the packaging.
I bought it several years ago on clearance at Target.
Cut your paper larger than needed, you will trim
it up in a later step. You want to make sure you
have enough to begin with for wrapping around
 the edges to the inside.

I then cut numerous strips of
heavy duty double stick tape and applied it
to the album covers as well as along the inside edges
where the paper will wrap in.

This photo shows the paper after it is adhered
to a cover and the creases I made after wrapping it
to the inside. I opened these edges back out then carefully
trimmed along a straight edge to tidy them up before
taping them in place inside the cover. When I cut the
paper out initially I wasn't too concerned with the cut
edges being perfectly straight knowing I was going to
trim them up later.

This photo shows the trimmed edges and
the double stick tape inside the album.
You may want to trim the corner on the diagonal a little bit
before sticking it in place. Adhere the corners in place first,
then work your way around the edges.
I worked on opposite sides, so top then bottom,
left then right for example.

The edges inside after they are stuck in place.

It could be left as is (above), but I wanted a more finished look.
I cut triangles and taped them in place over the corners.

The spine of the album.

Decorate the cover if you'd like !

Thanks for looking
and
Happy Holidays =)
