Mopar Card

Another card I made with the fun new Geared Up Garage
stamp set, dies and papers from Stampin' Up!

I have several gear head friends with birthdays this month,
so I just had to have this set to make cards for them.
Plus, the car image stamp is similar to our car !

The car image is cut from the designer paper and attached with dimensionals.

I inked portions of a stamp in the set and aligned it differently
to fit in the die cut.

I used one of the small circle pieces from the gear die
to make a faux screw head brad.  I simply pressed a screwdriver into
the card stock to create the indentation to resemble a screw head.

This card also uses the retired Chevron border punch.

Thanks for looking, have a great day =)

Classic Cars Card

I love this muscle car theme paper !
I'm hoping that Stampin' Up! will make rubber stamps
with the images of the other cars on this paper
since the Mustang image is already a stamp in the
Geared Up Garage set.

This is the first card I made with my new stamps and papers and dies.
Fun !

The Crushed Curry banner was stamped with the "smoke"
rubber stamp image, the red was run through the Subtle embossing folder.

I tried to emboss with the gear dies, but I don't have the correct "sandwich ingredients"

I inked portions of one of the stamps and carefully lined them up to fit the die cut.

I created this text on my computer and printed it
for the inside of the card.

Thanks for looking, have a great day =)

Grungy Gears Mustang Card

Thanks to a recent visitor to my blog leaving a comment
that mentions a new stamp set with a car in it by Stampin' Up!,
I'm now the proud owner of said set (plus matching dies and paper!).
I had to hunt it down since I've not seen a catalog from SU! in a while.
I was trying not to be tempted to buy more stamp supplies
by not looking at their catalogs ;)
Well, I broke my resolve when I saw the newest catalogs,
buying this car set - and then some !

This is a work in progress card.
I don't have everything glued into place just yet,
I'm trying to decide if I want to add something else.
Or redo the car image, again...... it's blah.

Stamp images, matching dies, paper are from Stampin' Up!
(Geared Up Garage)
Darice Diamond Plate embossing folder
80 is a die set from Michael's

The car image was water colored with an aqua painter
and classic ink pads.
I added Crystal Effects to the glass
and chrome was colored in with a silver Sharpie marker.

I colored the frame portion of this stamp image with a black marker
then stamped it on white card stock.
I lightly sponged gray ink over it
followed by stamping a scratchy background over that.

My home made screw head brad:
tap a metal brad on a Versamark pad then dip it in silver embossing powder.
Heat. Smoosh a screwdriver into the warm embossing powder.
Be sure to use pliers to hold the brad while heating.

I had too much fun making grungy gears with paint and cinnamon!
Yes, that is cinnamon sprinkled onto wet craft paint to make the rusty gears.

Thanks for looking , have a great day !

Retro Mustang Bday Card

The 50's-ish retro vibe doesn't quite fit the 60's muscle car image,
but I had fun coming up with this card for a long time friend :)

It doesn't show well in the photos,
but I have "chrome" and "glass" effects.

Supplies:
Rubbernecker Mustang image and die
Traffic Jam Cuttlebug embossing folder
Square Nestabilities dies
partially inked/stamped greeting from Stampin' Up!
hand cut banner
dimensionals
image water colored with ink pads and an aquapainter
glittery silver marker from Office Depot for chrome
Crystal Effects for glass

Purple Poppies Sympathy

I hand't planned on making a new card so soon,
but life happens. Or in this case, death :(
Sadly, I had a need for yet another sympathy card.

This particular card was inspired in part by a sample
I saw some time ago in a Stampin' Up! catalog
and kept in the back of my mind.

Other than the doily being too "yellow" compared
to the Whisper White card stock, I like it.

All supplies used, other than the doily,
came from Stampin' Up! and are long retired.

The stamp set is Simply Sketched.
The image was water colored with inks
from my classic ink pads and an aquapainter.

There is a layer of shimmery paper behind the front panel,
it is difficult to see in the photos.

Yes, that is sunshine in the background
of the first photo!
We've not seen it for days again.
Sure makes this frigid, windy,
snow covered ground day seem warmer.
We started the day off with -12 wind chills!

Thanks for looking , have a great day =)

Fabric Scrappy Brooch

I had fun wasting time, playing around with some scraps and pieces
leftover from another project to create a fabric brooch the other day.
You won't be able to see that project until later in the year though ;)
I also used a fancy stitch on my sewing machine
for the very first time on the felt background piece!

Will I actually wear it ?
Probably not, I am not a jewelry wearer.

This is what happens when I don't close a box of fabric right away.....
the cat makes herself a new bed for catnapping.

I'll probably not be posting as much on the blog for a while.
I've worked months ahead on my design team projects
for Love To Craft  (always posted on the first of the month)
and have a decent enough stash of greeting cards made (I think!).
It's time (passed!) to start concentrating on my photo albums
and scrapbooks. I've so much to get completed still!
I will have some digi projects to share
for my creative team work with JMC Designs, though.
In fact, there are will be three kits released this month
that I have digi projects to share for.

Thanks for looking, have a great day =)

Bed Spring Hanging Bouquet Holder

This months design team project
that I made for the anything goes challenge at
is a simple floral piece.
I used an old bed spring as a sort of  hanging "vase"
or "tussie-mussie" !
We are a monthly anything crafty goes challenge
(so long as it is family friendly).
We'd love to see what you made this month !

The florals are actually a spray that my daughter
carried as a bridesmaid in a wedding.

She removed the succulent to use in
one of my empty Oui yogurt jars,
but didn't want to do anything with the rest
of the spray.  I kept it for a future project , some day.

When I went down to the basement to peruse
my floral supplies, I saw the box of old bed springs
and immediately thought to do this.
I'ts a bit more fun than simply tying a bow
onto the spray as I thought I might do.
My original idea was to cut it apart and
decorate an old horse shoe as a base.
After looking closer at it,  it is made of heavy duty wires and floral tape.
It was not going to be easy to tear apart.
So I kept it intact.

I stuffed "moss" into the bed spring,
shoved the spray in and attached a
bow I made from a strip I cut from burlap.
Simple!

I suggest that if you do something like this,
you seal the bed spring (rust)
and hot glue some felt to the back of it
so the metal spring won't damage your door.
Also, it has a mind of it's own when it comes to
hanging nicely. I had to wire it in place around
a metal over the door wreath hanger
and even then, it still moves too much
for an often used door.
This will be a temporary decoration for March.

Thanks for looking, have a great day  =)
