It's Beginning to Look - and Feel - Like Christmas

Quick page I threw together using a premade album in My Memories Suite scrapbooking (and so much more!) software. I slightly altered it by making it a single photo rather than using the three photo boxes the page was designed with. I also moved the word SNOW from the turquoise paper so I could add a text box. I reduced the opacity to about 5 and copied/pasted it three times along the bottom edge of the raspberry paper. I could have easily added more embellishments from other kits, but decided to keep it simple. I do think I should have added a button or brad, something to the middle of the large upper snowflake. It will be easy enough to do later on.

Notice the flag blowing ? The winds were gusting to 60+ mph today ! There were thunderstorms overnight with temperatures in the mid 50's. I woke up to 56 degrees with light winds. By 8 am the winds had picked up considerably, by 9 am the temps were falling rapidly. 11 am we saw the first snowflakes and huge wind gusts. By the end of the day we had about 1/2" of snow on the grassy areas, cold and very windy still. It was as if we saw all four seasons in one 24 hour period ! Winter weather blew in right on cue since it is the first day of Winter tomorrow !

More Delightful Decorations Cards

Looking through my old posts, I realized that I never shared some of the older Christmas cards I've made. I've been stamping my own cards for about 10 years . Granted, I don't have photos of all of the cards I've made (and there are many I don't want to share!), but I'll share some of my favorites. Some are copies from catalogs, some are copied from other talented stampers' samples and many are my own creations. Most of them use retired products from Stampin' Up!

Here are a few I made with the Delightful Decorations set; I'm certain each of them was inspired / copied from samples I came across online.

Votive Wrap

My heart breaks for all of those affected by the
unthinkable tragedy in Connecticut.

Chipboard votive wrap.

USE A BATTERY OPERATED VOTIVE LIGHT !

This is a project I made several years ago using items from the
Country Living stamp /supplies kit that Stampin' Up! sold.
I didn't find it on my blog as being posted anywhere already
so I am sharing it now for the
http://anythingbutacard.blogspot.com/2012/12/anything-but-card-challenge-8.html

I bought coordinating acrylic craft paints to paint the raw edges of the
chipboard pieces before assembly.

I used clear drying white glue brushed on with a paint brush
to adhere the pieces of decorative papers.
What was really nice about this kit, each piece of  die cut chipboard
had a matching die cut piece of decorative paper already cut out !
Sooooo easy !

Once the paper was glued to the chipboard and dry,
I lightly sanded the edges to expose a bit of the white core
of the paper.

Cut a piece of vellum (or mulberry paper, etc)
to cover the backside of the chipboard piece.
Attach with double stick tape.

Stamp a snowflake on the vellum
or attach die cut snowflake.
Do this for all four sides.

Punch two holes, one at the top and one at the bottom,
on each side edge of the cardboard.
Make sure they line up so you can run
ribbon, twine, etc through them and tie them together.

Assorted Christmas Cards 12 12 12

12 12 12  ,  once in a lifetime date !  I'll be recording the benefit concert for Hurricane Sandy Relief tonight since I won't be home to watch some of it. Then I plan on listening to it while wrestling with the Christmas tree tomorrow. We have no room to put it up this year due to car parts in the dining room (still!) and the inversion table/chair hubby bought this past year. We rarely use the dining room - except to put up the Christmas tree!  I honestly don't think the kids would miss it anyway, neither of them has even bothered to ask why it isn't up or the lighted garland on the staircase, etc. Sad....   All of my holiday storage tubs are buried beneath too much stuff in the basement anyway, but I am determined to try to get some of it out. At least I'll put up the 3 foot tree if all else fails ! I do have the wreath I made earlier this month up with a few Christmas cards on display in front of it. My Dahlia fold Christmas Tree is on display, too.

Anyway, here are a half dozen old Christmas cards redone that I don't think I already posted:

I've made several cards like this, so simple -
but it is a glittery mess !

one of the very first hand stamped Christmas cards I made !
I'd been keeping it as a reminder but decided to send it this year
