Fuzzy Scarf Wreath

Cleaning out closets last week,

I came across this scarf that belonged

to my daughter several years ago. 

I've hung onto it hoping she may want to 

wear it again at some point, 

she does really like scarves after all.

This type of scarf is no longer trendy, 

and it's too colorful for her style now,

so she'll probably never wear it again.

Sooooo,  I made it into a simple, silly wreath !

I stamped and die cut card stock to create a

decorative banner greeting for it. 

All card stock, inks, stamps and dies were 

from Stampin' Up!

Background piece was Close To Cocoa

stamped with Woodgrain background stamp

and Itty Bitty Backgrounds with Espresso ink.

I also lightly rubbed a Creamy Caramel ink pad across it.

Happy is die cut from Peach Parfait card stock

and

 Fall is die cut from Ruby Red card stock.

The leaves were made by coloring the Lovely Leaves

 stamp set directly on the rubber with markers.

Stamped onto Very Vanilla card stock, hand cut

then slightly bent for dimension. 

How to make the wreath base:

 

Foam wreath from Dollar Tree

"Eyelash yarn tube scarf" that was so popular

several years ago

Simply wrap the scarf around the wreath,

pinning in place as needed

Decorate !

I will take this apart at months end,

reusing the banner on a scrapbook page

and probably donating the scarf to a local charity

- unless I find another use for it ;)

Let's Do Fall Twice

Ahhhhh, fall is in the air here this week :)

Today I'm sharing a digital scrapbook page

I created with an upcoming digital kit by JMC Designs

and using the My Memories Suite software. 

I also created my own word art for this piece.

I saved it as a png with a transparent background

so I can use it on any number of projects

(I have a hybrid project to share using it in a few weeks).

This piece is based off of the current sketch at

and is an Autumn theme for 

PDE Linky Party. 

I'm also entering it in a challenge I just discovered,

Time for a new challenge at

I created a facebook timeline cover with 

Pumpkin Delight Papers and

Autumn Sentiments from

We Are 3 digital shop on etsy,

our generous sponsor for this challenge.

The photograph is one of my own.

I use My Memories Suite V8 software
to create most of my digital projects.
It is easy to create a facebook timeline cover,
simply choose "custom" size and type in PIXELS
of 851 wide by 315 tall to create your cover.
I save as a JPG file,
unless I am creating a template with an
opening for a photo I may want to reuse.
In that case, it is saved as a PNG on
a transparent background.

Black Magic Medallions Card

Today I'm happy to share my first attempt at the 

Black Magic technique !

This is a card I made for my Mom's birthday,

very different from the cards I normally make her.

There are multiple layers stamped and die cut.

I cut circles from fun foam to mount each layer

rather than using multiple dimensionals on each.

The bottom layer has been dry embossed.

All supplies are oldies from Stampin' Up! 

 The inside is a computer generated sentiment

found online. I'm sorry, I have no idea who to give credit to.

I've used my various birthday sentiment stamps

many times over the years, Mom may have duplicates

of the same verse by now so I tried to find something different.

House Of Cards Challenge September

Hello there!

Our challenge to you this month at

House of Cards 

is to use text and/or the colors

from the inspiration photo below.

Back side, opened up and laying flat

I used various old stamp sets from Stampin' Up!

as well as retired ink and card stock colors

(Bravo Burgundy, Apricot Appeal and Barely Banana) 

I added a little bit of Stickles diamond glitter glue,

Crystal Effects and heat embossing with Iridescent Ice

 embossing powder for fun shimmer. 

The card design is not my own.

It is something I saw earlier this year, 

but do not remember whose design

it was or if there is even a name for this type of card. 

I cut my card stock front two inches wide

then added another two inch wide piece at the bottom.

They are attached together with the vertical panel.

I could have put a piece of acetate between,

but was afraid it would get staticy and attract dust

(cat hair!).

Grandkids Canvas

Hello  there! 

Today I'm sharing my Design Team project 

for Love To Craft,

a monthly Anything Goes craft challenge site.

It is a 12" x 12"canvas that I "repurposed"

and gave to my Mom.

I found it at a church fundraising sale

earlier this year that she and I were bargain hunting at.

It's a piece of  decorative "paper" glued to a canvas. 

It was faded and scratched in places.

I was going to replace the paper,

then decided to ink over it first to see if I could revive it.

I sponged on distress ink around the edges of the printed paper

then spritzed it with alcohol to create the "mottled" look.

It covered up the fading and scratches well enough,

creating a sort of grungy, time worn look. 

Not much of the paper showed

after adding the 8 x 10 photo and die cuts anyway.

I slightly curled the edges of a paper punch heart shape 

then added red glitter.

It is attached with a dimensional under the center

so the curved edges "wrap" around the dimensional,

giving it a puffy look.

"My" was printed out onto card stock then trimmed by hand.

"Gandkids" was cut  from silver metallic card stock with a Cricut Create.

The banner was also printed onto card stock then hand cut.

My project was a pretty simple one -

and gave a second life to some old items

I had around the house!

I mixed up some "chalk" paint to paint 

an old mason jar then added silk flower 

heads stuck into a Styrofoam ball to the top.

Make sure your jar is totally clean
before painting. I washed mine in warm soapy
water, wiped dry then did a final wipe with white 
vinegar and a lint free cloth. 

I inserted my hand inside the jar,
turning the jar upside down on my hand,
then used a 1" wide paint brush to apply 
the paint with the opposite hand. 
I applied two coats,
allowing the first to dry completely
before applying the second.

I alllowed the jar to dry for 24 hours,
then lightly scuffed the paint off of
the raised letters. I also added a 
few light scuffs elsewhere.

Once done scuffing, I applied a wax finish.

I cut a circle out of felt
and glued it to the bottom.

Chalk paint lightly rubbed off of the raised areas.

Note: my homemade chalk paint

(you can find various recipes online)

made from some old acrylic craft paint 

and plaster of paris is not nearly

as durable as the store bought, premade

chalk paint I purchased. I mixed my own

because I only needed enough paint

of this color for this particular project.

Perhaps the age of the paint and plaster,

or maybe because I didn't follow an 

exact recipe ratio to make it, had something 

to do with it. It covered the jar well enough,

but rubbed off much easier than I expected !

The floral top piece was reused from a 

table top decoration my Aunt had me take home

from her daughters wedding.

There is a small set of battery operated lights in it.
