Oh Christmas Tree Card
Pretty simple (except for the pop up tree surprise inside!) Christmas card using patterned paper (Die Cuts With A View Christmas Paper Stack), a rubber stamp image (Lovely As A Tree from Stampin' Up!, 16 years old) and detail white embossing powder plus a couple of embellishments.
The inside pop up tree was created with a die that Stampin' Up! sold years ago.
It was stamped with the Boughs rollaround wheel (probably 15 years old). I included 1/4" circle punched pieces of colored card stock (some have glitter) so the recipient could "decorate" the tree ! I made this card specifically for an older relative I recently spoke with. She mentioned that she no longer had a Christmas tree. I asked if she had a tiny table top tree at least, the answer was no. So I made this card to send to her. I already had another one made, but felt after our short conversation, she might appreciate this one more.
This will be my final post for a while.
With design team duties ending and holiday prep in full swing,
I won't be making many, if any, more things the rest of the month.
Thanks for looking and Happy Holidays !
I'm entering my card in the current photo inspiration challenge at Retro Rubber

The pop of red in the photo would be some of the ornaments inside , otherwise there is some pink on the decorative paper on the front ;)

I love stamping on patterned paper! And yet, I hardly do but I love the effect that you get! The embossed white tree is perfection (I can't believe that stamp set is so old and still in SU!'s catalog - such a gem of a stamp!) Beautifully done! Thanks for playing along with Retro Rubber!
ReplyDeleteFrst time I've ever stamped on patterned paper myself, Jane ;)
DeleteWow ! That’s a fantastic card !
ReplyDeleteThank you, Marjorie
DeleteYour card is awesome! I love how you have stamped over patterned paper, I am never brave enough to do this!! Thanks for joining us for the last Retro Rubber of 2017. Claire DT
ReplyDeleteThanks, Claire. I happened to use this paper for another project then had an "ah ha" moment to give stamping on the lefotvers a go !
DeleteStunning card!! I love the collage effect! The tree certainly has been around for a long time! I have not seen the tree pop up. Definitely before my time with SU. Thanks so much for sharing with Retro Rubber. Hope to see you play often in the New Year. Merry Christmas...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Katie. The patterned paper made it easy. I'm not sure how long ago the tree die was sold, certainly not as long ago as the tree stamp set ;)
DeleteAbsolutely beautiful card! I love the colorful background! Thank you for playing with us at Retro Rubber and hope you will join us again next year. Happy Holidays!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Debbie ! I plan on joining in next year. So easy to do when most of my stamps are over a decade old ;)
DeleteBeautiful! I really like the embossing over the paper. Lovely as a Tree - so old, and yet it is one of my most recent purchases! Great to see it here. How does the pop-up tree work? Is it a kit inside the card or does it actually pop up? Great inclusion either way, especially with its own set of ornaments. Thanks for playing along with us again at Retro Rubber Challenge - Happy hoiiday!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jan ! The pop up tree is assembled then adhered inside the card, on the fold. It folds flat then pops up when the recipient opens the card. Ideally the card would lay flat with the tree able to stand on display, but I've never been able to get it to work properly.
