Country Shelf Cards

Three more cards for Operation Write Home ! Normally I make every single card different, but this time I decided to make some multiples - to fill my box faster since I wanted to beat the deadline and make it a bit easier on myself !

This is such an old set from Stampin' Up!, if I remember correctly the sticker said 1995 !
It is a wooden shelf and three different scenes to stamp on top of it.

Stampin' Up! doesn't make images like these anymore and I miss them. Sure, they are not as versatile as some sets, but they sure are pretty , detailed images that are fun to color in!

I used decorative paper (from Lasting Impressions) to resemble wall paper. It doesn't look right to me to use this set on plain white paper and it is not an easy image to trim out around to mount on top of colored paper.

I'm headed to the Post Office tomorrow with my box of 231 cards. I had room to get in a couple dozen more , but did not have enough time. Had I made many more multiples of cards, it would have been accomplished, but I like to make a variety of cards.  If I hadn't made so many Christmas cards (118), I could have made more to fill in the empty space and mailed it off later. Due to the holiday cards, I had to get it out now so the shippers have time to sort, pack and send them off to the troops overseas.

I'll still be posting cards, there are several holiday cards that I have not shared yet then I made lots of blank cards as well as a few birthday, miss you and love cards. If I post them every couple of days, I may have enough projects to share for the rest of the year !

Stitched Tree Paper Pieced card

I stamped the tree four times onto three different coordinating papers. I stamped the trunk four times onto a brown piece of decorative paper. I then cut each of them apart along the stitch lines. They were then reassembled with different parts onto a piece of decorative paper to create a paper pieced look tree. The banner is hand cut. This made four cards to send to Operation Write Home.

The tree image, greeting, inks and card stock are from Stampin' Up!

The stitching stamp I don't remember where exactly I ordered it from online, it is a rubber unmounted stamp I bought a long time ago.

Snowman Winter Cards

More cards for Operation Write Home.  We really are not supposed to use glitter on the cards we make, but I used a glitter glue then went back over it with a clear drying sealant. I gave it a good rub and none of the glitter came off, so it should be fine.

Happy Fall !

I love the Lovely Leaves stamp set
from Stampin' Up!,
it makes such pretty images for
fall cards and scrapbook pages.

To achieve the multi colored look,
you can color the stamps directly with
watercolor crayons or water based markers
or do as I did here, stamp the rubber onto
the lightest color of ink pad first, then carefully
roll the edges on the pad of a middle color
then do the very edges the same way with the
darkest color ink pad.
You can stamp as is or
lightly spritz it with water before stamping
to blend the colors even more.

Right on time: after a week of the upper ninety temperatures
and huigh humidity, unusual for this time of year,
fall is arriving with a cool front and
some much needed rain for our area !!!

It was perfect weather for a 90 minute drive
to a car show around an old town square yesterday.
Funny, I go to a car show and take more photos
of the really old buildings than the cars on display ;)
I've always looked at the old buildings when I
see any. They sure don't make them like the used to.
I even managed to get a little sunburned !

Snowflakes and Swirls cards

Three cards I made inspired by the challenge I did for the Operation Write Home Virtual Card Making Party over Labor Day weekend. I actually made these that weekend and am just now getting them posted.

This is my favorite !

I added silver stickles glue to the snowflakes centers
after taking these photos.

Ho Ho Ho Card

I made three of these cards to donate to Operation Write Home . I used up scraps of paper from the Holiday Woodcuts cards I made previously.

The stamp image is from Stampin' Up! and colored with an aquapainter and ink from my ink pads. I also used a gold Signo gel pen and dimensional paper paint.

My dimensional paint is nearly gone now. I was very surprised it was still liquid-y enough to use and not dried up ! I've had this paper paint for more years than I have fingers to count on ! Seriously ! I found it at a discount store, bought a few tubes to try with a couple of card kits they also sold. I believe it was made by Tulip company. It was a then new craft item, dimensional paper painting as part of a color by number type project. The card kits had little dots on them for the crafter to follow, placing drops of the dimensional paint on each dot. I made several of those cards way back when, before I discovered rubber stamping / card making.

I've since used the paints on some of my rubber stamped images, my favorite being the white for fur or hair.

Always and Forever - CT Projects

It's here, a new release from Grace Blossoms 4 U (I'm part of the creative team !) - along with the big announcement that her designs are part of the ScrapsNPieces store. Everything in her new store at ScrapsNPieces is 40% off through September 30th  !!!

LOVE the colors in the kit being released September 15th, Always and Forever ! I've always been kind of partial to a teal/turquoise color (and blue and red and browns and.....!) . I even had my first car repainted a teal color !

Here is my first project -
and my first attempt at trying to cluster
lots of different embellishments.
I need practice ! With scrap booking in general.
I knew exactly what picture(s) I was going to use
on a layout when I first saw this kit..........
perfect to use on these oh so old photos.
I loved that dress !!!!!
I knew that I'd never have another opportunity
to wear a hoop dress, so I splurged and
bought myself this dress. Luckily for me,
although it had been custom made and was
very expensive, I bought it second hand
from a girl at another school
which saved me some money.
I easily resold it the following year to a girl
from yet another school.
That dress was making the rounds !
I've always wondered if it was passed on
any more or if the girl  I sold it to kept it.

My second project I decided to try to see if I could
come up with a "masculine" page with kit only components.
It's always nice to see the versatility in something.

The dark mottled paper reminded me
of asphalt then as I was looking at the embellishments,
an idea struck: could I use the stitching to
replicate tire tread marks on asphalt ?

The background paper ought to be reduced
in opacity ever so slightly so the stitching tread marks
show up a bit better though I think.
They are on the left of the page, under the text box
and running up towards the top of the page.

The stitching is lots of little traingles.
I copied and pasted it , flipping it the opposite
way each time I pasted to vary the design.
Once I had several rows of stitching flipping back and forth
to kind of resemble tire tread mark, I grouped, copied and pasted
the group over to make the second tread mark.

Both pages use only content found in the kit and as is.
The only added thing extra was the white border around the
automobile photos as well as my text boxes.

The digital kits will work with most digi scrapping programs !
I know I will be looking to see what entire digi kits
are on sale - for as low as $1 per kit !!!!
I use My Digital Studio and
My Memories Suite software;
the digi content does work with them.
However the kits are not the program
specific installer files as you would buy directly from
Stampin' Up! or My Memories. You will need to download
the standard files then choose where you want to
install them on your computer / folders if
you want to run it straight from a program such as
MDS or MMS. I just leave my kits in their
own folders on an external hard drive.

Holiday Woodcuts Card Set

this time I used old stamped images I came across
stored in my holiday Woodcuts stamp set
from Stampin' Up!

Die Cuts With A View Christmas Paper Stack.

Snowflake Embossed Sticker Paper Cards

Embossed silver sticker paper !
I stamped it with snowflakes first.
It was run through the die cut machine /
embossing folder on the release paper,
not stuck to the card stock first.
It removed easily from the release paper
and as you can see, still has crisp embossing
after being applied to the smooth card stock.

These were pretty simple and yet pretty.
They are being donated to
Operation Write Home.
I think I may make a bunch to send out
myself this year, I really like how they turned out !

Huh, I discovered something interesting that may be known
to most of you - but I had no idea:
you can emboss facial tissues with an embossing folder !
I would assume you could do paper napkins, how cool !
I found it out by accident, placing a tissue over the silver sticker paper
before running it through the embossing folder since I wasn't sure
how it was going to work, I didn't want to have silver or sticky
residue left on my embossing folder. It worked wonderfully !
The shiny cream piece to the left in the photo is the backing paper
from the sticker - I may try to do something with those, too !

This is the sticker paper I found recently at
an art gallery "trash to treasure" sale.

Christmas Cardinal Cards

Two more cards I am sending to Operation Write Home.

The cardinal stamp image was from Stampin' Up!
as are the card stocks and inks.
The snowflake embossing folder is also from Stampn' Up!
The embossed leaves on the green card is a Cuttlebug folder.
The top card has faux brads to make it mail friendly.
The bottom has a bumpy bow so I may
end up keeping it for personal use.
I try to send nearly flat cards to OWH
so it is more likely to make it back home
to the intended recipient.
Sometimes bulky pieces of mail get damaged
so I don't want to take a chance that one of my cards
would and then not make it "home".

Season Of Joy Card

Images colored with markers.
Stamp images, card stock, ink , Texturz plate all from Stampin' Up! (retired).
Strip of decorative paper, unknown, leftover from the paper pieced cards I previously posted.
I only made one like this to send to Operation Write Home.

My kitten immediately claimed this nice shopping bag
with cord handles as her own as soon as I emptied it out.
It was two toys in one for the curious kitten - a bag and strings !
Here she is peeking through the hole she chewed into the bottom.
I guess she thought she needed a "back door" to her new playhouse.

Sympathy Card

This is the last non holiday cards I'll be posting for a bit. After today, it is back to the holiday cards I've made for the troops to send to Operation Write Home. I have quite a few of those to share still !
As of todays post, I have nearly 100 cards ready to go to this wonderful organization ! I hope to get a few more done in the next month, my goal was to try to fill a small cardboard box to mail out at the first of October. I don't think I will make that goal, but at least I have some ready to go to meet the holiday deadline !

Stamp images from Stampin' Up! and colored with markers then lightly spritzed with water before stamping   (Pear Pizazz, Always Artichoke, Marina Mist, Night of Navy)
yellow rhinestones
scoring board
embossing folder
white and navy card stocks

I liked this card so well, I made one similar for Operation Write Home (not a sympathy card though).

Look at all the lovely papers I won from Stampin' Up!
Which one to cut into first and what to make................... !
